Nowadays with the rapid development of technology and information, energyis supporting the steady development of technology and economy, and thus energyconservation is playing a crucial role which should be paid attention by everydeveloping country in the process of building. In the construction of our country’scivil air defense projects, our energy monitoring system is still relatively lagging.The purpose of this study is to make the advanced field bus technology applied tothe construction of civil air defense projects, design a distributed and networkedenergy monitoring system based on the Modbus field bus, which lays the foundationfor building energy-efficient civil air defense projects.The internal structure of the civil air defense projects is analyzed, and thefunctional requirements of the energy monitoring system is established. On thisbasis, the design of overall structure of the system is completed, the system consistsof the bottom node which is acting as the Modbus slave/server and the monitoringcomputer which is acting as the Modbus master/client, the bottom node with RS-485and Ethernet communication interface, real-timely or periodically transfers variousmetrical information of power/non-power and fault alarms to the master/client, andalso receives configuration information and control command from the master/client.the implementation of each part’s function in the bottom node is studied. TheModbus communication application layer protocol is formulated, and the realizationprocess of Modbus/RTU and Modbus/TCP is given.Adopting the concept of pluggable modularization, the hardware of bottomnode is designed, including backplane module, CPU module which uses C8051F020processor as a core, power monitoring module based on ADE7758, non-powermonitoring module, Ethernet communication module based on Ethernet controllerENC28J60, digital input and relay output module. The software of the bottom nodeand host computer are developed. The software design of the bottom node achievesthe monitoring of power/non-power, the monitoring and controlling of DI/DO, andRS-485/Ethernet communication, the implementation process of Modbusapplication layer software is also given. The software development of the hostcomputer is based on VC++and the RSView32configuration software, achieves thefunctions of data acquisition, data display, data storage, data analysis and processing.In order to be more suitable for the control occasion of civil air defense projects, thedesign of host computer software adopts the idea of Soft PLC, devises the logiccontrol program, achieves a common logic control function of data input/output.Finally, through the functional testing of power/non-power monitoring and Modbus communication of the developed energy monitoring system, it is proved tobe able to meet the expected design goals and the demand for energy monitoring ofcivil air defense projects. This study expands the scope of application of Modbusfield bus, fits the situation of our civil air defense project, complies with thedevelopment policy of building a conservative society encouraged by our country,and promotes to enhance the energy monitoring and management level of ourcountry’s civil air defense projects.
