With the growing popularity and promotion of the rapid development of computertechnology, information processing and network technology and its applications, clinical diagnosis and treatment information is increasingly stored in electronic data. Awide range of clinical diagnosis and treatment data, forms, associated with a highdegree of clinical practical work in the use of electronic medical records needs veryurgent. A core part of establishing the scientific and effective hospital informationsystem (HIS) is to implement electronic medical records system (EMRS). Theestablishment of electronic medical records system is the core of the implementation ofa new generation of patient-centered hospital management information system. XML,Extensible Markup Language, using a hierarchical object-oriented schema, and is idealfor the contents of such a complex description of medical records, can effectively solvethe description, storage, processing problems of the medical records. while XML-basedelectronic medical records can well-worked together, and the Internet can visit themedical record content directly through the browser, reducing the development effort. We therefore launched the study of the XML-based electronic medical records system.HL7CDA is the first XML-based medical industry standard issued by HL7Organization, which is a clinical document structure and semantic document markupstandard to specify for the purpose of exchanging, and can be transmitted in an HL7message. CDA standard was established to achieve the exchange of technicalcomplexity and readability of patient care document in multiple heterogeneous systems.CDA standards will help us to build a more efficient and flexible EMRs based on XMLtechnology, to achieve the demand when the user needs access to the patient’s clinicalinformation, makes clinical information to the center of medical practice. This thesis conducted in depth understanding and study of EMRs and XML, pointedout the inevitability of XML and EMRs, discussed the use of XML in the field of EMRs,relying HL7/CDA standard, completed EMRs to describe the design of the structure.Medical records using XML do not depend on any computer platform, software ordatabase format, no need to do upgrade work because the hardware and software updates; to facilitate information exchange and query. Marked the XML content, so theinformation can be easily exchange and retrieval between users. In does not violate thestandards of the premise, XML allows users expands according to their current andfuture needs; It has great adaptability and flexibility. Based on the encryption of EMRsin the electronic medical record confidentiality; combining digital signature to achieveits integrity, which forms the basis of the security of EMRs.
