| WebGIS emerged as a technology with great potential of application. Developedfrom its traditional prototype, the latest WebGIS has a more extended usage. WebGIS isdeveloped on the platform of internet. It differs from the traditional type in that it is aneasily learnt and generally adopted tool rather than a professional technology, which canonly be accessed by few people. WebGIS enjoys many advantages which are unmatchedby traditional ones. It registers the trends and the future of GIS technology. The presentarticle proposes a new WebGIS model with a case study of the digital geographicalinformation system in Zhejiang Business Technology Institute. Digital campus refersto a informationalized and a digitalized system established upon the accomplishments inthe fields of internet technology, communication information technology, and computertechnology, for the purpose of managing scientific research, teaching, general affairs aswell as living and service. It is hoped that the development of WebGIS technology willenable the university to expand its campus beyond its geographical boundary andfunctions in a virtual space.Digitalized geographical information system on campus is an application ofWebGIS technology. The present article first argues for the importance and the necessityof setting up the digitalized campus in Zhejiang Business Technology Institute. Thenit details the present state and the development of WebGIS in China, introducing to thereaders its features and the technologies of effectuating it. Following that, the articleproposes a digitalized campus WebGIS Model that is applicable in Zhejiang BusinessTechnology Institute. This model is built on the bases of MVC model, bettering theformer by separating spatial operation of map and the non-spatial operation of it. It thenproceeds to analyze the guiding principles, goals, requirements as well as the designedfunctions of the system. Meanwhile, the article attempts to make a study of theArcGIS—the server used for the system, laying bare its basic components andsystematic structure and its operational mechanism.In designing, J2EE technology is employed to construct this layered system.Technologically, standard JSF technology and JavaADF will be adopted to strengthen the maintainability of the system, to speed up the process of development and to lowerthe risk. At last, the article explores the designing of the spatial database used in thesystem, of the functions of geographical information system on digital campus ofZhejiang Business Technology Institute and some of the key technological problemseffectuating meta-code and thesis, measuring disparate functions in the system. At last,the present thesis gives a summery of the major arguments in the article and presents tothe readers the prospective development of WebGIS digital campus in the future. |
