With the rapid development of information technology and the world economy,transportation not only plays a decisive role in economic and social development, but is also thefoundation of sustainable and stable economic development. Therefore, it has become the focusrelated disciplines that how to effectively use the existing traffic control measures to improve thetraffic conditions. Among the research results from intelligent control of signal lamp, Europe andthe United States have been completely investing a lot of money and manpower, and havedeveloped a series of stable traffic control systems. After long-term practice these traffic controlsystems overseas are relatively mature and of quite high reliability, however, in our country,there exist some defects in specific application: firstly, we do not fully consider the mixed trafficsituation in our country, which leads to an unsatisfactory actual control effect; secondly, theinvestment in systems is so large that many cities are unable to install these systems; thirdly, thepost service cost so much that those cities have installed foreign systems cannot take up regularmaintenance of the system. Therefore, establishing a set of control system that conforms to ourcountry’s transportation has become the focus of this paper.The purpose of this study is to detect the traffic flow of east-west and north-south directionswith the help of photoelectric sensor matrix system, SCM will compare them based onhistorically pre stored data and current detected traffic flow data, to establish dynamic model ofsignal lamp according to the fuzzy control rules in order to achieve the best cycle length andeffective time of green light, and then uses the fuzzy algorithm to undertake dynamicoptimization adjustment in the signal timing scheme, to maximize the smoothness of trafficoperation while ensuring traffic safety thus realizing the intelligent control of crossroads.Themain research work is as follows:First, according to the demand for intelligent transportation system, selecting PIC18F452microcontroller as the main chip of hardware platform in control system; selecting E3F-DS10C4photoelectric sensor to detect vehicle flow after analyzing and comparing the advantages anddisadvantages of current vehicle detection methods, and then build the hardware model circuit of the system and the overall hardware design.Second, we mainly analyze and state the real-time algorithm of the control (control point)model of single intersection traffic signal. We design flow sequence generation algorithm tocontrol the flow of traffic signal lamp based on the discipline of the distribution of traffic flow,obtained from the monitoring system; obtain the optimal cycle length and green light timethrough the establishment of dynamic model, then uses the fuzzy algorithm to undertakedynamic optimization adjustment in the signal timing scheme, establish the evaluation model offuzzy control algorithm based on queuing vehicles model.Third, correct detection of traffic flow is the focus of our system, so we study methods ofcollecting the dynamic vehicle volumes, select suitable vehicle flow processing technology forthe system, analyze the deficiency of current traffic flow collection in present intelligenttransportation system, and put forward with improvement methods. We have a good analysis ofenvironmental factors that affects traffic flow collection in this system, such as site construction,traffic; interference comes from electromagnetic wave, and so on.Fourth, we design and develop the application software for intelligent transportation system,in the special MCU development environment, named MPLAB, for PIC; we carry out onlinedebugging through the PIC2compiler and download it to the hardware platform, then undertakejoint debugging with hardware based simulation model. At the same time we execute the systemfunction test, including AT24C02storage function test, MAX487communication function testand fuzzy control timing test.The innovation of this paper lies in the use of PIC microcontroller as the core controller, forit improves the reliability and stability of the system as well as brings convenience of systemdebugging and maintenance to system. In addition, one of the biggest advantages of this systemis that the display time of traffic lights at the crossroads is dynamic due to the adoption of thephotoelectric sensor vehicle flow detection system, which makes the crossroads more smoothand gets rid of inconvenience brought by the existing traffic light system whose display time oftraffic lights is fixed; it also refers to the external interrupting technology, making emergencyvehicles pass through smoothly according to time. The traffic lights of the system can be largermodel indicating lamps, and sensors that function is easy to acquire in reality. The system will befurther improved in the future, with more functions, such as traffic monitoring control of cameras, vehicle turning control and warning system which tells people about vehicle running through redlights. This intelligent traffic light system is an important subsystem of the intelligent trafficmanagement system, can effectively reduce the occurrence of traffic accidents, improve roadtrial efficiency, and shorten the time vehicle takes to pass through crossroads, so it has greatrealistic significance. Combined with the most popular technology of the Internet of things,relying on the powerful Internet cyber sources, intelligent transportation system will gainconsiderable development. The promotion and trial of this study will directly or indirectly makecountless contribution to the construction of the economy in our country, so it is of greatpotential application prospects.
