In recent years, with the process of economic globalization accelerating, the inter-regional competition is increasingly fierce. In order to win in the competition, companies often largely accumulate in a particular region to form a collection of collaboration competitive advantage. Currently, the prevalence of this phenomenon of industrial clustering, the accumulation of industrial space has also become an important form of regional industrial organization. This agglomeration economies for an industry and even the economic development of the whole region plays a vital role. Therefore, correctly understanding of the phenomenon of industrial clustering accurately determine of the trend of industrial clustering, in-depth to explore the influencing factors of industrial agglomeration is not only provide a valuable reference for all levels of government to develop the industrial development strategy, but also of great significance for the realization of China’s regional economic development. This article selects manufacturing industry of the obvious characteristics of industrial agglomeration as the research object aiming to answer the following questions. How the current situation of China’s manufacturing industry agglomerate? How the spatial distributions of the different types of industries evolve? Is China’s industrial transfer trend obvious? What are the factors that affect different industries gathered in a region indeed? The answers to these questions will help us to form a more comprehensive and profound understanding of China’s manufacturing industry agglomeration.The21two-digit manufacturing industry of period2004-2011as the research object, using the space Gini coefficient and industry concentration index based on two industry segments manner analyzes the spatial and temporal evolution of China’s manufacturing industry gathered in a region characteristics and influencing factors, and focus on the differences of different industries and regions. The central conclusion was drawn. From the trends over time, the level of China’s manufacturing industry agglomeration showing an overall downward trend. Among them, labor-intensive industries, the degree of concentration of capital-intensive industries and resource-intensive industries in order of decreasing.Firstly, from the trends of time, the level of China’s manufacturing industry agglomeration shows an overall downward trend. Among them, a labor-intensive industry, the degree of concentration of capital-intensive industries and resource-intensive industries was decreased in order. Combined with the research of scholars in the year2005, this paper argues that China ’s manufacturing industry agglomeration substantially appear inverted U-shaped trend and is in the downward phase of the inverted U-shaped curve now. Secondly, from the spatial distribution characteristics, the eastern part of the manufacturing industry is a high degree of concentration, while the central and western regions lagging behind. This polarization trend is gradually weakening. Some manufacturing industries have moved out from the eastern region and transferred forward the Midwest and Northeast regions. The central region undertakes the eastern transfer for the largest proportion, followed by western region. The eastern region is least in the proportion of transferred. Thirdly, from the gathering influencing factors, the different types of industrial agglomeration were affected by different factors. Industry labor intensive industry market level and FDI penetration are the centripetal force of industrial clustering. Input intensity of industrial technology, inputs strength of industrial intermediate products and industrial economies of scale are centrifugal force of industrial clustering.
