Research On TBT In The Background Of Regional Economic Integration

At present, restricted by global economic downturn and European Debt Crisis, the economy of the World has to suffer for a long time to recover. The instability and fragility of the world economy has given a rise to trade protectionism. Traditional tariff barriers and non-tariff barriers emerge in an endless stream and have lead to plenty of trade friction, and there is a new trend that TBT has become one of new forms and measures of developed countries to carry out trade protect measures due to the complexity, elusive and duplicity of TBT. According to WTO, the number of reported TBT has increased from571in2001to2216in2012. Meanwhile, regional economic integration develops quickly and almost all major economies have gotten involved. As a very important part of regional economic cooperation, TBT has more complex features and has imposed more complicated pressure on trade. China is the largest exporting economy in the world and suffers for great loss from TBT ever year. For instance, there is estimation that nearly a half of machinery and electronic products manufactures are bothered by TBT. Therefore, there is a great significance for us to learn the impact of TBT in regional economic integration and find the effective countermeasures.This article begins from the definition and trend of TBT. Then we try to discuss the economic effects and impact mechanism of TBT on export. Given that the regional economic organization has acted a very importance role in the world economy, we combine the theory of regional trade agreement to analyze the influence of TBT on export. Finally, in order to help our country to get rid of TBT, we summarize the TBT related to machinery and electronic products of European and ASEAN and analyze their influence respectively. Then we put forward viable advice and effective countermeasures of dealing with TBT from the angle of government, industry organization and enterprise separately.
