A Study On Drug Safety Supervision In Rural Areas Of Xinyu City

Since the reform and opening up, the urban and rural economy in China has been developing rapidly. With the improvement of living standards, people’s demand for safe, high quality products is increasing day by day and the awareness of the importance of drug safety is gradually strengthening. Since1990s, the people’s living standards have been gradually moving to the well-off, main problems of drug safety have been changed from ensuring the supply to ensuring the quality and safety of medicines. With the increase of drug consumption, drug safety and health problems have become a prominent issue. Due to the differences between urban and rural areas in China, the problem of drug safety in rural areas was significantly higher than that in urban areas, which has seriously hampered China’s economic and social development, affected reform achievement and influenced social harmony and stability. It has become the urgent need to solve for drug safety supervision to let farmers enjoy cheap price, complete variety, reliable quality products, and obtain the same drug safety interests as urban residents.Based on the public management theory, this paper tried to study drug safety supervision in rural areas of Xinyu City, point out the present situation of the rural drug safety regulation in China. Taking Xinyu city as a case study, the paper mainly analyzed rural drug safety supervision system of Xinyu city, rural drug safety achievements of Xinyu city, and the problems of drug safety supervision of Xinyu city. Through the systematic analysis of the present problems of the drug safety supervision in rural areas of Xinyu City such as lack of drug administration hardware facilities, hazards in drug management of medical institutions, non-posing as drug phenomenon, illegal drug advertisements, irrational drug use, and virtual advanced drug prices, and with reference to experience of drug safety regulation in some developed countries, this paper provided the strategies to enhance rural drug safety supervision of Xinyu city from the following aspects:improvement of infrastructure construction, strengthening the supervision of medical institutions, strengthening the rural medicine science and technology personnel, improving farmers’ consciousness of drug safety, constructing credit system and combating false drug advertising.
