The tea industry is one of the traditional advantageous industries in Ankang with a longhistory. There have been more than1200years of artificial tea cultivation history in the city.Between the1950s and the1980s, the tea production had accounted for more than80%of theall the production. While after that, the tea industry remained stagnant and showed a slowlydevelopment. Moreover, the tea cultivation and production dropped to one third of the wholeprovince. The scale, speed and yield of the development was not in accordance with Ankang’sglorious history of tea. At the same time, this situation affected the industrialization process oftea industry seriously. Based on a systematic analyses of Ankang’s natural condition, teahistory, tea market within the worldwide scale, the present situation of Ankang’s tea industry,this paper aims to find out the bottleneck problems of the tea industry of Ankang, in order tooffer a practical solution from a broader perspective.The main contents and conclusions are as follows.1. Ankang has a congenital condition of the production of high~quality tea. The highquality tea production has a specific requirement on earth in terms of its soil type, soil textureearth nutrition, soil PH and soil organic matter Meanwhile, The local climatic condition isalso very suitable for high~quality tea production.2. The tea market of the whole world has decided Ankang’s tea industry with widedevelopment prospects. In recent years, the global tea consumption has experienced a stablegrowth. Along with the tea consumption idea change, at present, Ankang tea industry tends tothe research and development of organic tea and selenium~rich tea.3. The city’s tea industry development bottleneck problems are mainly as follows: Thelack of high quality tea planting and management technology, the lack of high quality tea andprocessing technology, the lack of tea plantation management, fertilization and use technology,the lack of input for tea garden infrastructure, the lack of input for tea production relatedtechnology research and development, inadequate labor and high labor costs,4. The main countermeasures and measures for the development of Ankang tea industryas follows: firstly, we should improve existing tea varieties, and increase the tea plantationinfrastructure; secondly, we should improve the middle~yielding and the low-yielding teaplantation by massive applications of organic manure; thirdly, we should vigorously researchand develop the organic tea and Se enriched tea; fourthly, we should combine the introduction of technology and independent research and to establish high technology demonstrationhouseholds; fifth, with the policy of the nation soil circulation,we should combine the usingland and establish large scale cultivation of tea,which could improve economic efficiency;sixth, we should develop the varieties of mutual aids which can solve the funds on teaproduction; finally, we should support and establish the tea service agencies to ensure thehealthy development of the tea plantation ecology, environmental protection and safety.
