Research On Competitiveness Of The Agricultural Product Processing Industry In Hainan

The building of tropical modern agricultural base is one of the six strategies in International tourism island construction plan. The objectives of building tropical modern agricultural base have the requirements to vigorously develop the processing industry of agricultural products, improve the value of agricultural products and increase the efficiency of resource consumption. Agriculture occupies an important position in the economic structure of Hainan Province. So, development of agriculture and rural areas, and improvement of farmers’ income have attracted much attention. Agricultural product processing industry can increase farmers’ income, improve agricultural efficiency and be an important part of the revitalization of the rural economy with high hopes. The rapid development of the agricultural product processing industry, not only can make an important contribution to GDP growth in Hainan, but also to some extent inspired the vitality of other related industries in Hainan Province such as Logistics, Refrigeration, Transportation, Machinery and Equipment, Communications etc.Hainan agricultural products processing industry grow up rapidly, but there are a lot of problems in capital, technology, innovation. Hainan government at all levels are actively improving the development environment, and vigorously promoting the development of agricultural product processing industry. Status of the agricultural product processing industry in the Hainan, factors which can influence its development, and what the competitive is strong or weak are worthy of further study. This article is based on this thinking, by means of the theory of comparative advantage and the theory of competitive advantage, expanding research on the Hainan agricultural product processing industry competitiveness. The first and the second chapter of the article describe the introduction and theoretical basis. The third, the fourth and the fifth chapter is focus directly on the Hainan agricultural product processing industry competitiveness, and the last part discussed shortage and put forward improvement suggestions.This paper discussed the competitiveness of the agricultural product processing industry in Hainan from three levels. First, with the aid of the Porter Diamond Model, qualitative analysis of the factors affecting the competitiveness of agricultural product processing industry in Hainan. Hainan is rich in factors of production, but the utilization rate is low, and high-level elements lacking; Hainan agricultural market growth potential; related and supporting industries, government, and the opportunities are to a certain extent on the agricultural product processing industry development in Hainan play a positive push effect. Second, this paper used the vertical and horizontal comparisons with data and indicators on agricultural product processing industry in Hainan from the pace of development, the output scale, industrial structure, market efficiency,. The results showed that the overall scale of the agricultural product processing industry in Hainan, the pace of development is lagging behind in the country, the output value of scale and market efficiency are lagging behind in Guangxi, Yunnan; longitudinal comparison shows that the Hainan agricultural product processing industry than before has been made a lot of progress; The regional distribution of agricultural products processing enterprises point of view, the most outstanding all cities and counties in Hainan in Haikou tower Ridge industrial Park, the most striking results in all the industrial park. Third, learn from scholars study selected11indicators, to take quantitative analysis, comprehensive evaluation and analysis method to establish the evaluation model, the use of principal component analysis to determine the weight using the software SPSS scoring evaluation in various sectors of the agricultural product processing industry in Hainan. The analysis results show that the rubber products industry, food manufacturing, paper and paper products industry the level of competition is more prominent, beverage manufacturing, agro-food processing industry competitiveness is not obvious, textiles and clothing, leather, furniture manufacturing and other industries inadequate.Finally, further analysis of the problems and make policy recommendations. This paper argues that Hainan should give full play to the resource advantages of the tropical characteristics, and optimize the development environment to develop leading industries, to enhance the Hainan agricultural product processing industry competitive advantage. The innovation of this paper is that, for the first time more comprehensive analysis of the Hainan agricultural product processing industry competitiveness and the use of principal component analysis on the agricultural product processing industry in Hainan empirical analysis.
