Seasonality is considered to be one of the most common and most difficultproblems to be solved in tourism, and has been widely concerned in industry andacademia. With the boom of tourism industry on a global scale, how to deal with thenegative impact caused by the tourism seasonality has become the focus of overseaand domestic researchers.China has abundant tourism resources, and the development of tourism in Chinahas great potential. But seasonality problem has become increasingly prominent in thedeveloped tourist cities. We can find that by computing tourism seasonal intensityindex, as a coastal tourist city, the tourism seasonal fluctuation of Qingdao is strongerthan Taian, mostly due to the differences in tourism resources, weather conditions, tourist source markets and transportation accessibility. In the past research, the studies of tourism seasonality impacts tended to be fromthe point of tourism industry, rarely involving residents’ perceptions. Based on theresearch methods of residents’ perception on tourism impacts, the author makesstatistical analysis of residents’ perception on tourism seasonality impacts in Qingdao. Results from factor analysis show that, from the point of residents’ perception, tourism seasonality includes six aspects: society culture, ecological environment, economic income, resources&equipment, price level and social service. Results fromindependent-samples T test and single factor variance analysis reveal the followingfindings:1. For the residents, with different genders and different educational backgrounds, there exists no perceptual difference in the seasonal impacts of tourism.2. For the residents in different age periods, there is only the perceptual difference inthe economic income. 3. The length of living in one place will exert an impact on residents’ perceptionsfor the environment and economic income.4. There are perceptual differences caused by tourism in such4aspects as socialculture, ecological environment, economic income and price level between theresidents whose job is related to tourism and those who work in non-tourism circles.5. The disparity in salary makes residents feel different in such4aspects asecological environment, economic income and price level and social service.6. The perceptual differences caused by the different living areas turns to be themost prominent aspect, including social culture, ecological environment, economicincome, price level and social service. The perceptual differences caused by the different living areas turns to be themost prominent aspect, so it is further studied through clustering analytical method. The result show that: the perceptual differences are closely related to the tourismdevelopment level of different areas. The distribution of scenic spot resources is theprincipal cause of the difference of tourism development level. Different tourismdevelopment level causes the difference of tourism seasonality and residents’perceptual difference.Based on the above analysis, the author puts forward countermeasures forpromoting the sustainable development of tourism from6aspects. The first ispreserving culture of tourist destination and residents’ living style. The second isimproving urban sanitation and maintaining the ecological balance. The third issolving unemployment problems of tourism workers in off-season. The fourth isproperly utilizing tourism resources and maintaining tourism equipment. The fifth isestablishing supervisory and controllable system of tourist products value. The last isstrengthening infrastructure and raising the level of public service.
