Research On Yantai Shipbuilding Industrial Cluster And Its Development Strategy

The Industrial cluster is the effective combination of the industry and the region.It’s one kind of cluster effect was produced and released gathering a large number ofsimilar and related enterprises of one industry in a place. Its essence is one kind ofeffective production organization. More and more experts and scholars were attractedto research it because of the advantages of industry cluster, the resources integration,market competitiveness and low cost. With the growing global competition, industrialcluster development strategy is bound to become the only way of the shipbuildingindustry’s development.Yantai City, the high-end equipment industry (ship and marine engineeringequipment) manufacturing base, is one of the three major shipbuilding industrial bases,which is determined by the provincial government. This paper is studying on theshipbuilding industry in Yantai and analyzing the development of Yantai shipbuildingindustry from the perspective of industrial clusters, using the industry economics andregional economics.The significance of this article is to raise awareness for the importance ofindustry cluster strategy in the development process of shipbuilding industry. It helpsto determine the government’s role in promoting the development of industrialclusters, and helps the enterprises to define their function and positioning. Promotingthe industrial cluster of shipbuilding to serve the reginal economy better and faster.This paper consists five charters. The first part discusses the research background,object, meaning of this paper, and analyze the domestic and abroad present status. Thesecond part describes the theoretical basis of industrial clusters, elaborate the conceptand characteristics of industrial cluster. And, from the perspective of economics,analyze the economic effect of the market, cost and synergy of industrial clusters.Thethird part is the theoretical model of shipbuilding industry. Firstly, analysis the characteristics of shipbuilding industry. Secondly, put forward the formation conditionand influencing factors of ship building industrial cluster. Thirdly, analyzes theeconomic effect of shipbuilding industry clusters from the positive effect, negativeeffect, the comprehensive effects. Finally, build the shipbuilding industrial clustersidentification model by the way of Potter’s definition of industrial clusters, and spatialGini coefficient, the degree of industrial concentration, location quotient and otherqualitative analysis and quantitative analysis method. To identify the developmentlevel of shipbuilding industrial cluster. The fourth part is the empirical analysis of thedevelopment of the shipbuilding industry in Yantai City. Firstly, it introduces thegeneral situation of the shipbuilding industry clusters development in Yantai City.Secondly, analysis the formation condition and the characteristics of shipbuildingindustrial clusters in Yantai city, by using the theory of shipbuilding industrial clusters.Then, to do the qualitative and quantitative identification for the development ofYantai shipbuilding industrial clusters by shipbuilding industrial clusters model.Finally, point out the existing problems and reasons of Yantai shipbuilding industrialclusters. In this part, through the theoretical analysis, empirical analysis, qualitativeidentification and quantitative identification for the Yantai shipbuilding industrialclusters, get the following conclusion: Yantai shipbuilding industrial clusters hasbegan to take shape. Although Yantai shipbuilding industrial clusters has initiallyexistence and development, it still is existing small scale of shipbuilding industrialclusters, the lower level of supporting, lower technology innovation ability, and otherproblems. It would have great influence on the development of Yantai shipbuildingindustrial clusters to resolve these problems.The fifth part of the paper summarize theexperience of the development of shipbuilding industrial cluster, of some foreignshipbuilding industry developed countries such as Europe, Japan, and Korea, anddomestic Bohai Bay, Yantze River Delta, Pear River Delta three major shipbuildingbase Then, select the Korean, the Yangtze River Delta region as a typical case of thedevelopment of shipbuilding industrial clusters to analyze. And, point out theenlightenment is brought by the experience and typical case of the development ofdomestic and foreign industrial cluster. Finally, puts forward some countermeasures for speeding up the development of Yantai shipbuilding industrial cluster fromgovernment level, industry level, and the enterprise level.
