Population Aging And Household Consumption In Hunan

Since Hunan province entered the aging society in1998, the process of agingin Hunan Province has fast speed. In2010,all of prefectural-level cities in Hunanhave entered the stage of aging and the aging coefficient is higher than the8%.Thestatistics of "The fifth census"、"The sixth census" show that the aging coefficient ofHunan Province national ranking rose from No.11to No.8, higher than the nationalaverage. Whether the aging of the population will affect consumption level of Hunanor not? Whether the aging of the population will affect consumption structure ofHunan or not? This will not only related to the Hunan Province expand domesticdemand implementation of the strategy, the transformation of the mode of economicdevelopment and the improvement of people’s livelihood, but also to Hunan residents’consumption structure optimization and upgrading of industrial structure andindustrial modernization. Therefore, the analysis of the aging of the population inHunan Province consumer has important theoretical and practical significance.Firstly, in-depth analysis of the status、characteristics and causes of the agingpopulation in Hunan Province and predict trends, followed by a comprehensive andsystematic analysis the aging population in Hunan Province on the consumer directand indirect impact mechanism, based on the use of time-series data and multiplelinear regression models, empirical testing Hunan population age structure on theimpact of the level of consumption, and the use of gray correlation analysis methodanalysis of urban and rural residents’ consumption structure and changes in the agestructure of the degree of association, try to find the specific relationship between theAging and the level of consumption and the structure.Through theoretical analysis and empirical testing, we draw the followingconclusions:(1) Hunan certain degree of population aging will reduce the overalllevel of the province’s consumer;(2) changes in the age structure of the population inHunan Province consumption structure significantly affected, urban and rural elderlyresidents’ consumption structure has some differences, in general health care, foodand educational entertainment products and services are the three major consumerelderly. Combined with the conclusions of this analysis, this article from incomeprotection policy, industrial policy, maternity policy and other aspects of labor andemployment policies related countermeasures. The innovation of this paper is to build a systematic study of the aging of thepopulation in Hunan Province on the consumer impact analysis framework.
