The Reasuch Of The Trend For Urban Residents Consumption Structure And Quality Of Economic Growth In China

Under the influence of the financial crisis, the contradictions of the the industrialstructure and economic structure which caused by investment-driven economicgrowth pattern become increasingly prominent, so, investment-driven economicgrowth become more and more weak; meanwhile, under the influence of theEuropean debt crisis, with the demand of Europe and the United States marketbecome more and more weak, relying on exports to solve the insufficient of domesticdemand is gradually losing its original role. In the case of the global economicdownturn,and the Troika which stimulate economic growth facing decline in China,the consumer will play an increasingly important role. As the core problems in thefield of consumer research, comsuption structure is the most important content whichhas the impact for borth the industrial structure and the economic structure. What’smore, it’s also the important indicator to measure the living standards and quality for acountry or a region, to measure it’s economic structure is reasonable or not and theeconomic is sustainable or not. Along with the highlights of social issures, such as theenvironmental issues, resource issues as well as food safty issues, people graduallyrealized that the economic growth should not only focus on quantity, but also focus onquality. They were also recognizes that we should adhere to comprehensive,coordinated and sustainable concept of development in the process of economicgrowth.Since the reform and opening up, the consumption structure of urban residentshas undergone considerable changes in China. In order to investigate the changes inthe consumption structure of urban residents in26years, we select eighe items, asfollows: food consumption, clothing consumption, household equipment and serviceconsumption, housing consumption, transportation and communications consumption,health care and education, culture and entertainment consumption of urban residentsin China from1985to2010, and analysis the changes of consumption structure in26years; at the same time, this paper select service consumption data from the eigheitems, and analyzed it separately. In order to get the indicators to measure the qualityof economic growth, I used the principal component analysis to calculate theindicators of sustainability, efficiency indicators and economic growth quality through12sub-indicators which was considered from two respect: the sustainability ofeconomic and the efficiency of economic. Finally, this paper applies the Johansen cointegration test and Granger causality test to verify the long-term relationshipbetween the consumption structure and the quality of economic growth.Through my research in this paper, I found that consumption structure andquality of economic growth are closely linked overall; what’s more, the decelopmentof tertiary industry, especially the development of the service sector has a positiveimpact on the quality of economic growth. But I also found that, the increase ofclothing consumption rate has a negative impact on the quality of ecnomic growth.The negative impact of clothing changes in consumer spending on economic growthcan be interpreted as textile industry has a very Low technical level, and it Pollut theenvironment in the development process. On the basis of the empirical research, fromthe aspect of the sustainabe of economic and the efficiency of economic growth, Iconcluded the way to optimize and upgrade consumption structure. Finally, I putforward some policy and recommendations for the optimization and upgrading ofconsumption structure.
