Fresh food markets are main places for residents buying fresh food, the space pattern of fresh food markets have different basic character in different times. The space pattern present the characteristics of seasonal pattern in our country after the founding of new China. Since the21st century, the types of fresh food markets become more diverse and the space pattern is in a constant state of flux poses profound impact on people’s daily life. The fresh food markets within the North Third Link limits in the main urban area of Kunming was considered as a precedent in this article, by the field survey to fresh food markets and the sampled surveys on consumers has been conducted, based on the statistical analysis and spatial analysis of ArcGIS combined with qualitative and quantitative analysis, we set out the characteristic and the cause of the fresh food markets’space pattern in Kunming.This paper is divided into six chapters, The first chapter expounds the development situation of domestic and foreign fresh food market, also introduces the existing problems of fresh food markets in Kunming. The second chapter summarizes the theoretical basis and relative research progress, the third chapter introduces the research purpose and significance, research contents and methods. Based on the field investigation results, used statistical analysis method and the ArcGIS kernel density analysis, the fourth chapter analyzes the characteristics of fresh food markets’spatial pattern in Kunming. The study find, there are the characteristics that a variety of fresh food market coexist at the same time, and different fresh food markets has different characteristics in Kunming.The large fresh food markets showing a "Horizontal S Type" characteristics of the overall dispersion and local concentration. Community supermarkets rapid growth, and become the main competitors of large fresh food markets.Meat stores gradually transformed into the comprehensive supermarkets, The fruit stores and fruit supermarkets continued to increase. Direct sales of vegetables is controversial in the streets, and gradually transformed into a community supermarket; Street vendors’ is still a certain market; The fresh food market from a single type become to various types of coexistence, and shows the characteristics of dynamic change of stage. The fifth chapter analyzes the cause of formation of fresh food market spatial pattern in Kunming, the study finds a variety of fresh food markets which is mainly due to supply and demand diversity effect, market distance and consumer commuting behavior, enterprise and individual participation and government behavior etc. The population distribution of Kunming is not uniform, farmers markets demolition, wholesale markets relocated and demolition, large fresh food markets are highly dependent on traffic, there are the reason that the large fresh food markets showing a "Horizontal S Type" characteristics of the local concentration. Fresh food markets shows the characteristics of dynamic change of stage, because of the policy changes, changes in consumer demand, fresh food enterprises development, development of urbanization and the influence of the government behavior. The sixth chapter is the conclusion, sums up the main conclusions and the lack of research and prospects.
