Research On The Logistics Management Of Shanxi Provincial GX Energy Group

Logistics has surpassed the mere focus on the supply of goods during the economy globalization and the rapid innovation of the information technology. It pays much more attention to the utilization of supply chain, market demand and manufacture procurement strategy. The efficient logistic of a company has become another profit resource. Corporations in the business of natural resources are indispensable part of the market. The logistic strategy of these companies has its own character. Optimization of the logistic can contribute to the social development significantly and it can reduce waste of natural resources as well.As a historical coal producing province, Shanxi is under a lot of pressure due to the diminution of the coal resource and environmental regulation. Shanxi needs an urgent reform to incorporate the traditional coal production and the new green energy business. It needs to construct a resource friendly and environment friendly society. One of the goals for Shanxi government in its economic reform is to speed up the logistic infrastructure, build logistic zones based on coal production companies and encourage the third party to participate into logistic.GX group is a large energy enterprises owned energy company with major business in gas, coal sales and trades. Coal and gas are the two leading areas of GX group. These two business can be divided into traditional and clean energy parts. The logistic of coal is a three dimensional service system with the properties of long distance shipping, multiple nodes, pollution during process and seasonal. Natural gas is a cleaner energy compared with coal. It has less pollution and lower cost. Gas has more and more market share in the recent years. This thesis takes GX company as a case study, researched the logistic and coal and natural gas respectively. It studied the current condition of the logistic and envisages the pertaining problems. Some suggestions are proposed to optimize the logistic process for similar energy companies, which may contributes to the future development of Shanxi.
