The Research On The Role Of Hui Nationality Cultural Factors In Land Use Changes

Land use/land cover change is the forefront and hot topics of today’s global environment change research,The study of driving force and the driving mechanism is one of the key areas of land use/land cover change research. However, for some ecologically fragile areas and hot spots areas, the research on driving force of land use change and driving mechanism are more focus on natural factors and human factors such as population, economy, technology, policy, and the lack of cultural factors research, especially the hui national cultural factors haven’t been reported in the land use changes.TongXin county in Ningxia Hui nationality settlement has been chosen as the study area, this essay aims at the man-land relationship theory, culture ecology theory and the theory of complexity science theory, using RS and GIS method to analyze the three periods of TM remote sensing image in1990,2000,2010. Establishing the database of land use change from1990to2010in the study area, with the amount, speed, degree of land use change and spatial characteristics based on the dynamic analysis, to explore the Hui national culture’s effect on land use change impact analysis in the study area. This essay mainly has the following conclusions:(1) Great changes have taken place in the usage of the land:a From quantity characteristics, the types of land use in the study area are mainly composed of the grass, the proportion of its total area is on the decline; Water area covers the least; Cultivated land area is gradually being reduced in dry land area, but irrigated land area is increased gradually and the construction land area is on the rise.b From the changing speed of land use, the single land use dynamic attitude is not only positive but negative. Construction land change is the most violent one among them. Integrated land use trend is reducing during the year1990-2000,2000-2010. It indicates that the disturbance of the land use by people is decreasing.c From the degree of land use, the integrated study in land use is still in a lower level. The land use still has a recessionary sign during the year2000-2010.d From land use transfer matrix, every types of land use have roll-in and roll-out in each period. And mutual transfer between all types is larger, the type of land use structure located in the unstable stage. On the whole, the roll-in of grass is more larger than roll-out, and its mainly change into the unused land and dry land. The main roll-in source is from forest land and dry land; the roll-in of the cultivated land is greater than roll-out. And they both change into the unused land and grassland; the roll-in of construction land area is greater than roll-out, the main roll-in source is form grassland and cultivated land; the roll-out of woodland is more larger than roll-out, they mainly flow to the grassland and unused land; the roll-out of the unused land is smaller than its roll-in, its main source is the dry land and forest land.(2) The concept of child-bearing, the mode of production, diet custom, housing conditions and energy consumption is a important impact on land use change in the study area, the analysis showed that:a Hui family values lead to the increase of the population, lead to the increase of arable land, the reducing of construction land area, and influence the pattern of the land use.b The combination of Hui agri-businesses mode of production makes people reduce the dependence of land. It also avoids a large number of land reclamation becoming arable land; Hui’s farming is mainly depends on dry land,so the phenomenon of the abandoned dry land is more.c Because the proportion of beef and mutton is big in Hui people’ diet, it promotes the development of animal husbandry in the study area, the number of cattle and sheep outnumber area capacity meadows which caused the degradation of the grassland; Hui diet caused different planting structure in regional agricultural; Hui dietary restrictions lead to the Hui residents is not convenient in other areas which increased the intensity of their own living areas of land use.d The characteristics of small groups and living around the mosque by Hui people lead to construction land area is relatively concentrated on the space, and the increasing of residential area leads to the increasing area of rural residential areas which makes the changing of the construction land area and pattern change.e Islam contains numerous ecological theory points of view that make the hui has the consciousness of ecological protection, they pay attention to the protection of trees. The consumption of Straw firewood declines in the study area, enable people to reduce the damage to forest land, and the speed of forest land area declined at a slower pace.
