Improving energy efficiency is a natural way to solve two major problems of China’seconomic development in the face of current energy shortage and environmental pollution.Studying the problem of energy efficiency in China, we need to solve the following threemain issues:"How about the current status of China’s energy","Why study the problem ofenergy efficiency in China","What is energy efficiency and how to measure it","how aboutChina’s energy efficiency" and "what factors affect energy efficiency".Under the framework of the total factor, this thesis use SBM model to build energyefficiency model. According to the different levels of data, this thesis evaluate the region’senergy efficiency evaluation, and with the help of econometric models to explain differencesin energy efficiency, in order to seek influence mechanisms, path, direction and size ofinfluencing factors behind energy efficiency, and provide some inspiration for China’s currentenergy conservation practices."Why study the problem of energy efficiency in China?"——In the first chapter, fromChina’s energy supply, demand, utilization, and four levels of environmental pollution, depictsthe current enormous difficulties and challenges faced by our country to achieve sustainabledevelopment, which leads to the importance of energy efficiency research, necessity andmotivation of this thesis, also introduce the technology roadmap and basic framework of thisthesis."What is energy efficiency? How to measure energy efficiency?"——In order to clearlydefine the concept of energy efficiency, the first chapter sort out and summarize the previousstudies, and along the two main lines of single-factor energy productivity framework andmulti-factor productivity framework, to comment different concepts, definitions, methods andresults. In the second chapter describes the model of computational efficiency and the SBMmodel calculations principle."How about the current status of China’s energy?"——In order to figure out China’senergy situation, in the third chapter, we select the status of energy production in China, thestatus quo of China’s energy consumption data, and calculate the energy elasticity. In China,total energy are rich, regional distribution are uneven, and consumption structure is stillcoal-based irrational, and energy consumption structure is irrational, and then summarizes the problems of China’s energy."How about China’s energy efficiency?"——This paper selects the correspondinginput-output indicators and pollution emissions index calculated by pollution factor asundesirable outputs, and uses SBM model to calculate energy efficiency value of30provinces,autonomous regions and municipalities in China from1996to2010. In conclusion: Energyefficiency in general is on the rise; energy efficiency in the region are quite different, and thedifference in the gradually expanding of the coefficient; through the analysis of variationcoefficient, it found that energy efficiency exist convergence trend."What factors affect the energy efficiency?"——In the fifth chapter, we select theeconomic factors, institutional factors, energy consumption structure, regional factors,technological factors and other explanatory variables to calculate the factors that affect theChina’s energy efficiency, and analysis the extent and direction of the impact of these factorson national energy efficiency and the three regional energy efficiency, finding that influencingfactors exist regional differences, and provide some reference for different areas to effectivelyimprove the energy efficiency.
