| With the development of the scientific and technological progress, the logistics industry has gradually grown into one of the pillar industries of today’s global economy, playing a rather significant role in the economic development and strategic decision-making at home and abroad. But at the same time, the logistics industry is also a high energy-consuming and high-pollution industry.Under the background of China’s "double carbon" goal and the "double control" action, how to reduce the pollution generated in the production and transportation activities of the logistics industry and thus improve the energy efficiency of the logistics industry has been the focus of scholars in recent years. In this paper,we examine the energy efficiency of the logistics industry in 30 provinces and cities from 2004 to 2019 to study the trend of energy efficiency in the logistics industry and to analyze its impact factors.First of all, this paper uses a number of statistical data such as China National Bureau of Statistics,China Statistical Yearbook and China Energy Statistical Yearbook to measure the energy efficiency of logistics industry in 30 provinces and cities in China from 2004-2019 using the SBM model of non-expected output. The trends of energy efficiency were analyzed from two perspectives of time and space, respectively. It is found that the average value of energy efficiency in logistics industry is higher in Hebei,Anhui and other 8 places in the country during this period, and the average value of energy efficiency is lower in Heilongjiang,Chongqing and other 14 places. As the years go by,the gap between the energy efficiency of the logistics industry in the eastern and western regions of China becomes more and more obvious, while the gap between the energy efficiency of the Bohai Rim and the Yangtze River Delta region also becomes larger and larger, and the former has become a more efficient and concentrated region of the logistics industry in China, indicating that the difference in location factors brings about the difference in the size of the energy efficiency values of the logistics industry.Secondly, based on the panel regression method to analyze the factors influencing energy efficiency in logistics industry, the results show that each region can improve the energy efficiency level of logistics industry by improving energy structure, increasing foreign investment, strengthening local financial dominance, reducing the emission of pollution volume carried by unit output, and more interfacing technological progress and informationization level with the transformation of input and output and environmental management. Finally,China’s carbon emissions trading pilot policy proposed in 2012 is used as a market incentive type environmental regulation tool to study its impact on the energy efficiency of the logistics industry using a double difference model. The intermediary effect of the carbon emissions trading pilot policy is studied in terms of industrial structure and technological progress, which verifies the existence of Porter’s hypothesis, and further analyzes the energy rebound between pilot and non-pilot provinces before and after the implementation of the policy. The effect of energy rebound in pilot and non-pilot provinces before and after the implementation of the policy is further analyzed. The innovations of this paper are:(1)Using the SBM model of non-expected output,we select capital input, energy input, workforce input, desired output and non-expected output to more scientifically calculate the energy efficiency of logistics industry in 30 provinces and cities in China from 2004 to 2019,and to analyze the change trend of energy efficiency from the spatial and temporal perspective.(2)In this paper, eight indicators are selected, including technological progress, fiscal decentralization and urbanization level internally;foreign direct investment is considered externally;green technological innovation is considered for ecological factors;energy structure, informationization level and transportation infrastructure are considered for energy efficiency of logistics industry;and carbon emission trading pilot policy is used as an environmental regulation tool for research and analysis, and the energy efficiency of logistics industry is analyzed more systematically. The impact factors of energy efficiency in the logistics industry are analyzed in a more systematic manner. It also analyzes the influence mechanism of China’s carbon emission trading pilot policy on the energy efficiency of logistics industry from the intermediary effects of industrial structure transformation and technological progress.(3)This paper measures the energy rebound effect of logistics industry in 30 provinces of China at the macro level. The differences between the energy rebound effects of pilot provinces and non-pilot provinces after the implementation of the carbon emissions trading pilot policy are explored, effectively revealing the actual effects brought by the carbon emissions trading policy on energy efficiency. |
