The Empirical Analysis On The Impact Of New Energy Industry To Economic Growth In China

In the second quarter of2010, China surpassed Japan and became the world’s secondlargest economy finally, which can be seen as a milestone in China’s economic developmentand a historical progress. However, due to the long-term denotative expanded reproduction inthe process of development, there appear an excessive consumption of resources and anincreasingly prominent contradiction between supply and demand of energy gradually.Seeking and developing the new energy has become urgent to solve the problem of theshortage of energy resources. This is not only the successful experience of some developedcountries, but also the key of obtaining economic sustainable development in our country.This thesis can be divided into five parts. The first chapter is an introduction of researchbackground and significance, literary review and research methods. The second chapterstudies the current situation of new energy industries at home and abroad. It is easy to findthat some problems are serious in our country, such as the lack of core technology, the slowprocess of mercerization, the lack of evaluation system and the lag of macroeconomic policy.The third chapter analyzes quantitatively the relationship between the consumption and theeconomic growth. By this analysis, it finds out a bi-directional relationship between these twofactors and comes to the conclusion that the new energy industry plays a positive role in theeconomic growth and the long-term impact is greater than the short-term impact. Besides, thischapter also probes the influencing factors in new energy industry of China in depth, whichconcludes that the supporting of innovation capacity, the regulation of electricity market andenergy efficiency are the crucial elements in promoting industrial development of new energy.The fourth chapter explores the function of the new energy industry plays in the economicgrowth in terms of the four new energy gathering areas and finds out that there exists apositive effect in these regions. Thereinto, the simulative function of the new energy industryin southwest is much higher than the other three regions, which is related to the developmentof new energy industry in peripheral regions directly. According to the analysis about theexisted problems and the experience of developed countries, the last chapter proposes and demonstrates the suggestions of the new energy industry from the perspectives of the energystrategy, rating criteria, industrial layout, technological innovation, policy environment andconsumer demand.
