After the world financial crisis, the BRICS countries play an important role inthe development of the world economy, especially play the key role of the globaleconomic recovery and the quality of the economic development of the BRICScountries has almost decided the trend of the world economy. BRICS countries’effect on the development of the world economy is not only reflected in the overallscale, is also reflected in its development potential, an increasingly important role onthe international market and increasing influence in the global economic governance.After the crisis, Developed economies generally slow growth, but the BRICScountries economy recovered rapidly. For example, in2010, GDP growth in China,India and Brazil, respectively,10.3%,9.7%and7.5%, this greatly promoted therecovery of the global economy. While as outstanding representatives of thedeveloping countries, BRICS countries have the common feature is that foreign tradeoccupy a very important position in its economic development. Foreign trade as oneof the troika of stimulating economic growth, its development situation will have adirect impact on the overall economic development of the BRICS countries, so thereis an important practical significance in analyzing their development situation.As the BRICS countries’ important impact on the global economic developmentand the foreign trade’s important impact on the economic development of the BRICcountries, this article take the BRICS country’s foreign trade as the object of study,and respectively research and comparative analysis of the different characteristics ofthe five countries’ s foreign trade structure and trade competitiveness. Aftercomparative analysis, the author used the analytical method of panel-data andempirical research on the relationship between trade structure and tradecompetitiveness of the BRICS five-nation. The results show that the BRICS foreigntrade structure and trade competitiveness are closely related, especially theincreasing export of the proportion of capital-and technology-intensive productswould be beneficial to enhance the competitiveness of a country’s trade. Finally, onthe basis of comparative and empirical analysis, the author proposed some relatedpolicy recommendations about how to better development of international trade andto enhance competitiveness in international trade.
