Research On Integrated Use Of Natural Resources In Hubei Under The Background Of The Rise Of The Middle Area Strategy

As resource is the top of the six essential factors determining regional economicdevelopment, its use efficiency has become an important indicator in the corecompetitiveness of the economy. The central government has pointed out many times tobuild Hubei Province into a crucial strategic supporting place in the rising of the middlearea. In recent years, economy in Hubei Province has developed very fast and theincrease of its GDP is higher than the average level of the whole country. It is right in aphase of rapid development. However, Hubei is an inland province short of resources,and resource shortages and the low efficiency of resource use have been an importantconstraint in economic and social sustainable development in Hubei Province. How tomake its own advantage yield well, overcome resource shortage and figure out theimbalance between resource supply and demand have become an urgent real question inthe accelerating industrialization process of Hubei Province and its role of becoming acrucial strategic supporting place in the rising of the middle area.This thesis uses large amounts of data to analysis the effects of integrated use ofnatural resources in Hubei under the background of the rise of the middle area strategy.First it analysis the dependence on natural resources of Hubei’s economicdevelopment. The thesis uses of the combination of qualitative analysis and quantitativeto analysis economic status and history of Hubei. It illustrates that whether from theperspective of history or reality, Hubei is the best the crucial strategic supporting placein the rising of the middle area. On this basis, it conducts a predictive parsing on thequantity of energy and iron ore required for the future economic development of Hubeiby using ARMA model and grey prediction model GM(1,1). It turns out that it isunrealistic to maintain existing economic development based on the presenttechnological level and status of resources. Resource scarcity has become the largestobstacle in obstructing the economic development in Hubei Province and it is aninevitable choice to carry out integrated use of natural resources in order to mitigate thisstatus quo.Next, by taking Wuhan Iron and Steel Group as an example, this thesis performs aninstance analysis on the effect achieved by the company’s employing integrated use ofnatural resources. It makes use of grey prediction model to predict the condition of thecompany’s energy consumption after carrying out integrated use of natural resources.The result is that resource consumption declines dramatically and it can also bringimmense economic environmental and social benefit.Finally, it proposes some countermeasures and suggestions aimed at the status quoand existing problems of the integrated use of natural resources in China for referencesin better employment of integrated use of natural resources in the future.
