At present, China is under the transition period which is transition from traditional agriculture to modern agriculture. There are new requirements on rural development, which not only ensure steady and rapid development of the rural economy, but also change the traditional agricultural production and way of life to form a new way to meet the requirements of ecological production and way of life which are require low energy consumption, low emissions, and low pollution, and finally to unify economic benefit, social benefit and ecological benefit. This requires a new type of development in rural--rural low carbon economic development model. This article combines with actual conditions of Sichuan province, estimates the rural carbon emissions of energy consumption and agricultural production from1997to2010, decomposes the influencing factors based on the Kaya identity and LMDI model, and seeks a development path of rural low carbon economy. Specifically, it contains six chapters as follow:Chapter one is introduction. It mainly introduces background, conceptual definition, research review, research mentality, and research innovation.Chapter two is theoretical analysis. It mainly combs the related theory in the course of the construction of low carbon economy, which are sustainable development theory, path dependence theory, carbon decoupling theory, technology innovation theory.Chapter three is the analysis of Sichuan rural low carbon development status. It mainly reflects the current rural low carbon economy development situation in Sichuan province by estimating the rural carbon emissions and respectively measuring the situation between economic growth and carbon emissions, economic growth and energy consumption with the third appraisal pattern of decoupling theory.Chapter four analyzes the influence factors of rural low carbon economy development. It decomposes the influencing factors based on the Kaya identity and LMDI model, and analyzes empirically by establishing conintegration equation of these variables.Chapter five is path analysis, mainly according to the above analysis, on proposing the Sichuan rural development path of rural low carbon economy, which is restricted by both carbon emissions and energy consumption. Chapter six is summary and prospect. It proposes the conclusion and forecast of following research. The results show as follows:(1) There are some path dependences constraining local low carbon economic development., and it mainly shows in macro policy, traditional agricultural production mode and conception.(2) The economic effect is the dominant and sustainable driving factor for the rural carbon emissions, and other factors, such as energy intensity, energy structure, agricultural structure, and carbon intensity of planting industry, can inhibit the grows of rural carbon emissions.(3) The economic effect as the dominant driving factor, determines the growth trend of carbon emissions. We can alleviat the trend, which can not be changed in short period time through improving energy structure and energy intensity.Based on these, Sichuan rural development path of rural low carbon economy should be contain three levels:At the technical level, we shall advocate low carbon technology innovation to improve the rural energy structure, advocate saving agricultural technology to promote low carbon agriculture development, actively participate in rural carbon sink market construction to introduce carbon sinks technology in agriculture; At the policy level, we shall build the mechanism of the clear property rights to promote rural low carbon industry development, establish and perfect rural carbon trading system, and innovate policy mechanism to support low carbon economic development in rural areas; At the financial level, we shall increase the government investment, vigorously development of green credit and carbon trading market.
