Knowledge Transfer Of Taiwanese PC Multinational Corporations In Mainland Of China:a View Of Local Embeddedness

Taiwanese PC multinational corporations,as the important part of the globe PC production network,monopolized the section of production all over the world in the second level of the globe PC network.Beginning at2001,Taiwanese main PC production companies entered the mainland of China in Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta,establishing an integrated PC production agglomeration,while the mainland of China has gained its position in producing PC.As the growth of the Taiwanese PC production network,the knowledge transfer in this network has become into a hot topic.This paper attempts to research the Taiwanese PC multinational corporations’ will of transfer,the way which the main land of China get the knowledge and the characteristic of the knowledge that transferred by Taiwan,in the basis of the mechanism between the local embeddedness and knowledge transfer.At first,the mechanism that the local embeddedness effects the knowledge transfer is carefully shown.The paper introduces the main three components of the local embeddedness:trust,fine-grained information transfer and joint problem-solving arrangements.At the same time,the effect factors of knowledge transfer:will of transfer,characteristic of the knowledge and the way of transfer, are also be fully analyzed.By detail research,the mechanism that the local embeddedness effects the knowledge transfer is presented as "mechanism of trust":trust is linked with the will of the knowledge transfer;"mechanism of information transfer":fine-grained information transfer links with the characteristic of the knowledge."mechanism of joint problem-solving":joint problem-solving arrangements has linkage with the way of transfer,consisting of the bridge between the knowledge transfer and local embeddedness.Then in the research of the Taiwanese PC production network,the paper takes the inside and the outside Taiwanese PC production network as example,following Zenfei (2000).According to the research of plentiful data,the paper finds the exist of the trust,inner-training and R&D and the joint problem-solving arrangements in the inside of the network, while the absence of the trust, fine-grained information transfer and the joint problem-solving arrangements is also proved,detailing the strong local embeddedness in the inside network and the weak local embededness outside.Further,after showing the local embeddedness of the inside and outside of the Taiwanese PC production network,the paper reveals that,in inside of the network,the substantial trust promotes the will of transfer,the joint problem-solving arrangements,companying with the fine-grained information transfer refines the way and the characteristic of the transfer knowledge.In the outside network,the absence of the trust decreases the will of transfer.The blank of the fine-grained information transfer obstructs the transfer of tacit knowledge,and the low level of the joint problem-solving arrangements blocks he way of transfer.All the analysis finds the reason for notable knowledge transfer inside the network and the poor transfer outside,proofing the validity of the theory above.At last,the paper makes suggestions for the strengthen of the muti-trust in the network,refining the way for information transfer and the promotion for the joint problem-solving arrangements,summarizing the whole results of the paper.
