Study On Touirsm Competitiveness Of Vice-provincial Cities In China

In recent years, the development of the tourism industry gathers momentum. At the sametime, the tourisum industry gradually becomes one of the important industries which aredriving the world economy booming. China is rich in tourism resources. Under theencouragement of national policy, all provinces and cities in our country strive to develop thetourism industry and then speed up sound and fast development of the third industry, in ortherto not only improve the employment rate but also to promote the flourishing development inscientific, cultural, environmental and other related career. Vice-provincial cities play a veryimportant role in all the661cities in China. They are the focus of the national policy supportand the implementation, and own a leading position in the national economic development.Basing on the solid economic foundation, vice-provincial cities give priority to thedevelopment of tourism industry with its superior geographical conditions and rich tourismresources, and make great efforts to promote the historical process in which the tourismindustry becomes a new growth point of national economy. Therefore this paper has certainpractical significance by choosing vice-provincial cities as the research objects of the citytourism competitiveness. This paper focuses on Dalian, which is the earliest to be classified asthe city with independent planning status in vice-provincial cities. Dalian was awarded as oneof the best tourism cities in China by the National Tourism Administration and the UnitedNations World Tourism Organization in2006. In the increasingly fierce competition in thetourism industry, Dalian has certain advantages, but also shortcomings. This paper finds outthe shortage of Dalian tourism industry and puts forward the corresponding countermeasuresof improving the tourism competitiveness of Dalian through a comparative study with othervice-provincial cities on the tourism competitiveness.This paper mainly is divided into six parts. The first part is the introduction which willgive priority to the domestic and foreign research overview and categorizes the study ofprevious scholars. The second part is theoretical study which will include distinguishingdifferent competitiveness concepts and strengthening the theorical cognition about citytourism competitiveness. The third part is the model design and the method introduction,which will design a model suitable for tourism competitiveness research of vice-provincialcities by learning form classical competitiveness model and establishes evaluation indexsystem after confirming the representative and persuasive indexes from the fundamentalcompetitiveness, the core competitiveness and the environmental competitiveness. The fourthpart is the empirical research, which will have a quantitave study on the vice-provincial citiesand mainly summarize the advantages and disadvantages of city tourism competitiveness of Dalian, by using factor analysis and cluster analysis method. The fifth part is countermeasuresand suggestions. According to the actual reach results, this part will put forward thecorresponding countermeasures and suggestions in view of the shortcomings of Dalian citytourism competitiveness.The sixth part is conclusion and shortage, which will sum up themain conclusions and point out the study need to be improved in the paper.
