In China, modern rural tourism is a new tourism which began to emerge since1980s and developed rapidly after1990s. Rural tourism has become an effective means to develop the rural economy. However, the current research of domestic scholars mainly focus on the development, planning and management of rural tourism destination. Study of tourists consuming behavior has not become the mainstream direction of tourism research. Research is not deep enough, most of the research is fragmented, and without significant breakthrough in theory. Therefore, a comprehensive and scientific study of the consuming behavior in rural tourism, a detailed understanding of consumption market, is needed to promote the development of agriculture, tourism, which has important theoretical and practical significance.On the base of the theory and the practice achievement, this paper use the method of literature research, questionnaire survey and SPSS17.0software statistical analysis to carry out an exploratory research on the consuming behavior of rural tourism in suburb of Xiangxiang tourist characteristics.First, theoretical research, rural tourism, tourist consuming behavior and other related concepts are defined, domestic and foreign research progress on rural tourism and tourists consuming behavior are reviewed, and finally a briefly comment on the research of rural tourism and the tourists consuming behavior both at home and abroad.Secondly, empirical research, based on collecting and sorting the raw data on the consuming behavior of rural tourism in Xiangxiang, there is a descriptive analysis of the demographic characteristics, activities, and consuming behavior of the tourists, which concluded that:Most of the Xiangxiang rural tourism consumers go to the suburban area for a24-hour local resident; the age of the consumers is between16-44years old; Members of tourists are mainly family members and friends; word-of-mouth transmission is the main source of information channels; Self-service travel is the mainstream; the purpose if mainly for sightseeing and relaxing; Food consumption is still the majority.Thirdly, based on theoretical research and empirical research, in accordance with the characteristics of tourist consuming behavior of rural tourism in suburb of Xiangxiang, I try to put forward the countermeasures to improve the industrial development planning, improve infrastructure, build rural tourism brand, and take stereo marketing suggestions.Finally, review, there is a summary of the full text which points out the research conclusion and deficiencies of the paper, and give a prospect of further research on this topic.
