Manufacturing is the pillar industry in our national economy. It has a significant effect on the development of our economy. One main measurement to reveal the input-output condition is the efficiency of resource allocation, which in consequence reflects economic operation efficiency. This artical illustrates the picture of the manufacturing industry within China’s31provinces. The author analyzes and contrasts the allocation efficiency of the sub-industry from several different angles. This research uses data envelope analysis (DEA) as its object. The research shows that most of the manufacturing industry in the Chinese provinces have low efficiency in allocating resources. The comprehensive efficiency is also affected by the lack of technologies and the size of the local economy. According to the research, some low comprehensive efficiency is due to the lack of techonology and some due to the small economy scale, others are caused by both poor technology and the economic scale. At last, the author provided some suggestions which are based on the empirical results and analysis.
