With the development and advancement of technology, China has been patented big country. While the market conversion of intellectual property is low, there are still a lot of "sleeping patents".Therefore how to take full advantage of the value of intellectual property has become the focus of enterprise, as well as intellectual property scholars. On the other hand, competition in the21st century is business model instead of product. In the open innovation environment, In order to keep sustainable excellent, the corporation must constantly innovate on creating market values, that is the open innovation of business model, In other ways is to build open business model. Open business model means that enterprises should fully integrate internal and external resources used for the development of their own and create more values. Intellectual property is the most important strategic resource of companies. So this paper will make intellectual property combined with open business model, aimed to provide some suggestions about business model innovation, and make full use of intellectual property.In this paper, firstly, we make a detailed explanation of related theories and research status of business model, open business model and intellectual property, combined with existing literatures and results. Secondly, we present the life-cycle theory of intellectual property to elicit the coupling relationships of business intellectual property and open business model, and make a general description of mechanism and structure of open business model, then put forward our own views about its evolution path and characteristics. Thirdly, we make an empirical case study on open business model based on intellectual property to give some references. Finally, we summarize the relevant conclusions of this paper, and make expectation on future research.
