The process of urban development is essentially the process of agglomeration and expansion of production factors. The development of the city involves agglomeration economy. Accumulation of factors of production is bound to overcome space obstacle, so urban transport infrastructure is the premise for the formation and development of urban agglomeration economy. However, there is not adequate urban transport infrastructure matching high urban economic density."Urban disease" is widespread, such as traffic congestion, environmental pollution, urban development has been blocked. This paper first makes the topic on how the transport infrastructure promote urban agglomeration economy by listing some world cities whose transport infrastructure successfully guide urban economy development, such as the situation of Atlanta and Tokyo. In order to explore how urban transport infrastructure influences urban agglomeration, this paper has put it clear that how the urban transport infrastructure supports the development of urban agglomeration economy by explaining the microscopic mechanism of the formation of agglomeration economies and explaining the proximity of economic activities is the main factor influencing urban agglomeration economy. Meanwhile, in conjunction with the phenomenon of urban transport hub attracting economic activities, this paper illustrates the railway hub, aviation hub, hub port how to promote the formation of agglomeration economy. Combined with accessibility of urban traffic lines, this paper put it clear that depending on convenient transport line, economic exchanges between different regions along the transport line has increased, the factors of production flow smoothly, so urban transport line has promoted urban agglomeration economy in a wider range. Experience as expressed in this article after the theoretical analysis, this paper describes the economic level and the supply of urban transport infrastructure of Tokyo, London and New York. By comparing the level of urban economy and urban transport infrastructure, it can be concluded that the efficient operation of the urban economic systems are relatively well corresponds to urban transport infrastructure. In order to describe the role of urban transport in supporting and promoting urban agglomeration economy, this paper select Xi’an as the case, and first describes the economic situation as well as the level of urban transportation in Xi’an, fist using the data to support the idea that the urban transportation has support urban agglomeration economy in Xi’an. LGDP stands for the level of urban agglomeration economy, then using multiple regression model to verify how much effect on the agglomeration economy from investment in urban transport. The result manifests that every one unit of investment in urban transportation brings an increase of0.27unit of urban agglomeration economy in Xi’an. The model result further indicates that investment in urban transport has stronger power in promoting urban economy when comparing with other investment in Xi’an.
