Since the beginning of this new economy, changes in the external environment have brought unprecedented pressure for the enterprises’innovation activities. Enterprises gradually realized that only depend on internal resources to innovate is not enough. Companies should acquire the external resources actively, and integrate internal and external resources. Only then can they occupy the competitive advantage in the market. Open innovation is just a new innovation model like this. It provides a new possibility for the enterprises’ innovation activities, and is becoming the inevitable development trend of enterprise innovation model.Since the open innovation was launched in China, how to help enterprises to determine the most appropriate openness, so that the open innovation can improve the innovation performance of enterprise in the largest extent, which has been the hot issues in theory research.The past scholars’research about this problem from a single perspective, or from a single field. They ignored the other intermediary variables between open innovation and innovation performance. This paper introduces organizational learning as the intermediary variable, and fully reveals the action mechanism between multiple dimensions of openness and innovation performance with188companies of national industry as a sample for empirical analysis. The study found that open innovation has significant positive influence on both organizational learning and innovation performance, organizational learning has a significant positive effect on innovation performance, organizational learning plays a role of intermediary between open innovation and innovation performance. We think there does not exist the best openness interval in enterprises. The suitable openness should be decided according to its own organizational learning circumstances. In theory, if the enterprises choose openness matched with the organizational learning situation, open innovation practice can you can further improve the innovation performance of enterprises by acting on organizational learning and using mediating role of organizational learning.But for the enterprises in our country, although many of those have open innovation practice, but it is difficult to weigh the degree of open innovation. If openness is too low, it will not lead to high performance for the companies, but high openness also worry that excessive open will easily lost the important resources within the enterprise. These Companies who are in contradiction will be tied. It is difficult to realize the real value of open innovation. Which also runs counter to our country’s idea of building an innovative nation. So this article emphatically studies the mechanism of action between openness and innovation performance, and introduces the organizational learning as an important intermediary variable, then clarifies the relationship among them. We hope we can provides beneficial enlightenment for our country enterprises’ open innovation practice. This paper mainly includes three parts:theoretical research, empirical analysis, conclusion and enlightenment.Theoretical research part. Through reading a large number of literature, and learning the past scholars’ research about open innovation, organizational learning and innovation performance. We review the concepts of them, generalize the relationship among them and mediating role of organizational learning, and then put forward the theoretical hypothesis and conceptual model accordingly. Finally, according to the requirements of this article, we also summarize and correct measuring scale of the three variables.Empirical analysis part. According to the measuring scale, we design questionnaire, and collect the investigation data of188companies from our country. We use SPSS20.0to perform reliability, validity, correlation and regression analysis.The four dimensions of openness:relationship breadth, process breadth, relationship depth, process depth, the three dimensions of organizational learning: learning commitment, shared vision, open mind and innovation performance are respectively analysed. Then we get the final conclusion.Conclusion and enlightenment part. We finally draw the conclusions:the positive influence of openness on innovation performance is partly validated, the positive impact of openness on organizational learning is partly validated, the positive impact of organizational learning on innovation performance got all the validation. Organizational learning has partial intermediary effect between openness and innovation performance. Based on these conclusions, we put forward the corresponding beneficial enlightenment for the innovation practice of the enterprises in our country.
