The information modernization in rural areas is an important target of China’s new rural construction. To study the existence of rural information modernization process, to provide decision support for the construction of rural informatization, has become an important direction of research. Investigation and Analysis of the basic information demand and the existing problems provide the information construction in the west rural areas with theoretical support.Leshan city is located, in the southwest of Sichuan Province, with the area of12827km2, and the population of3540000.1n recent years, with the rapid economic development and accelerating informationization process, the information needs of farmers become increasingly prominent. Problems, such as lacking deep study of farmers’needs, unreasonable information service mode, imperfect information service content, poor information consciousness, hard access to information and poor ability of understanding and using information, prevent valuable information from being widely disseminated and well utilized. Therefore, the study of Leshan farmers’ information needs is imperative. This paper, on the basis of the present influence factors on domestic and international agricultural information demand, combined with Leshan rural areas information service, makes statistical analysis of the principal part, channels, contents and sources. According to the inherent characteristics of all kinds of science and technology information needs, an empirical model is constructed, which, with the application of the dualistic logistic Regression Analysis Tool, makes quantitative research on the relationship between various factors and farmers’science and technology information needs. With the analysis of the influence factors, the dissertation gives advices on Leshan rural science and technology information service, attempting to make some contribution to government policy making in agricultural economical development and informationization construction and help enterprises develop rural areas information service.
