Study On The Strategy To Attract International Cargo Trading Companies With China(Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone As A Case

As China’s largest city, first city opened to foreign countries, Shanghai is responsiblefor the mission of national rejuvenation. With the deepening of reform and opening up andthe "Four Centers" construction progresses, Shanghai is now developing towards theworld’s most modern metropolis direction. As the pioneer of Shanghai Pudongdevelopment and opening up, Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, as one of the predecessors ofChina (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone(hereinafter called Shanghai FTZ), is the firstbonded zone of China. After20years of continuous development, it gradually becomes themost developed and mature free trade zone in China. In this thesis, SWOT analysis ofShanghai will be conducted in attracting multinational cargo trading companies. Lookingat the competitive advantage, disadvantage, opportunities and threats to the city from homeand abroad, this thesis conducts a detailed in-depth analysis to gain a more profoundunderstanding of Shanghai’s overall investment situation. The thesis is also focused onShanghai FTZ, the largest investment in the area. Making use of investment-relatedquestionnaires, statistics and data analysis through the production of relevant icon, thethesis offers more intuitive understanding of the information channels that investors knowof Shanghai FTZ, their motives to invest in Shanghai FTZ, the current problems in dailyoperation and corporate satisfaction for the park.Additionally, the thesis will list various ways and means of attracting foreigninvestment in the past experience, take a further study of these ways and means and findout the strength and weakness, study the differences in investment behavior of the foreigninvestors causing by different countries and territories, help the staff in charge of attractingforeign investment to optimize the ways and means and provide better services for settingup companies.Finally, the thesis will give some possible development advices on how to speed upthe development of Shanghai Free Trade Zone, enhance core competitiveness, developtrade service, formulating relative policies. Study on how Shanghai could take theadvantage of the establishment of Shanghai FTZ to deepen the reform and development, the thesis makes an effort to help Shanghai to earlier fulfill the construction of FourCenter of China.
