Research On TBT’s Development Status And It’s Influence On China

With the rapid development of economic globalization, the international division of labor and exchange has been continuously deepen and expanded. Especially in the1990s, the competition of international trade was into a new stage. Tariff barriers which have ever played a huge role have been replaced by non-tariff barriers. And quota and license of non-tariff barriers are gradually replaced by the new non-tariff barriers, technical barriers to trade.Presently, as a developing country, in many respects, China still lags behind world’s major economies. The backward concept, the backward technology, the backward policy, the backward system construction and the backward industrial development, are hindering the healthy development of China’s international trade, restricting China’s economic and social harmonious progress. And the major economies in the world have paid more attention to the improvement of TBT.They also have been greatly developed and lead the direction of social development in this field.In this paper,"learning from others to improve our own" is the writing theme, which is on the position of supporting free trade position. This paper suggests that we should face directly to TBT, and make full use of it, and also discusses the benefits for China from analyzing internal causes. This paper studies the "three elements" of the TBT-the technical regulations, the standard and the conformity assessment procedures. Through the comparison and analysis of the characteristics and the gap between our country and the developed economies in these areas, researching and analysis from promoting the transformation of government functions, promoting the system improvement, promoting the industrial development. Based on a positive vision of development, this paper tries to seek ways to play the positive role of the TBT, To provide some enlightenments for the healthy development of China’s international trade and social harmonious progress.
