R&D is not only one of the enterprise core functions, but also the main source of its global competition. Multinational corporations’(MNCs’) R&D activities have traditionally focused on home country area. With the rapid development of economic globalization and international competition intensifies, multinational companies of United States make a change in the traditions of the past, and have set up overseas R&D units to engage in product development, experiments and scientific research activities. Along with the rapid development of Chinese market-economy, more and more U.S. MNCs begin to establish their R&D units in China, especially in lately20years. According to the author’s incomplete statistics, U.S. MNCs have already established303units of R&D organizations at the end of2010in China. Therefore researching on the location choice of U.S. MNCs’R&D investment in China has great significance to economic development in China.Firstly, on the theoretical analysis, this paper draws on the research literature on the location choice of MNCs’R&D investment. Then this paper makes analysis of the present situation and sums up the factors of impact of the MNCs’ R&D investment. On empirical analysis, it make full use of the collected empirical analysis data and statistical software Eviews. Finally, this paper points out the main problems of U.S. MNC s’ R&D investment in China and makes a series of recommendations. The innovation of this paper is focusing on researching on the location choice of U.S. MNCs’R&D investment in China not that of global multinationals.Because the empirical study product about the location choice of U.S. MNCs’R&D organizations in China is less, and my ability is limited. There are some shortages in this paper. It’ll be the author’s next study direction.
