Researeh On Port-neighboring Economy Development Of Qingdao Based On The Industrial Clusters

In the21st century, the port area becomes the best location of modern industrialagglomerations gradually. As the key node of the industry chain, ports have much moresignificant role on connecting suppliers of raw materials, commodities producer andconsumer of the finished product. Port economy is booming worldwide.With the opening up of China, especially the coastal cities, ports has transformedgradually from the traditional transit point for goods into a integrated body integrated aset of functions gradually, by the virtue of its strategic location, specialized economyand relevance of related industries. A growing number of port industrial processingzones and logistics parks have risen in the port city, which easier to produce industrialclusters and the cluster phenomenon is also becoming increasingly significant.The sustained and rapid development of China’s foreign trade has brought goodopportunities for the development of Bohai Sea port cities. But the competitionbetween ports is fierce. Faced with this situation, Qingdao needs to accelerate thedevelopment of the port economy, thus improving the overall strength andcompetitiveness of the port. Because the port has the general characteristic of cluster,the theory of industrial cluster can be applied to the port economic analysis. And theapplication of cluster theory can make Qingdao a more strong overall competitivenessin the competition of international market.This paper applied the theory of industrial cluster to the study of the economicdevelopment of Qingdao port, using the methods combining theoretical and empiricalresearch and integrating qualitative and quantitative research. The article analyzed theconnotation and the social and economic benefits of the industry cluster, the porteconomy, and the port industrial cluster. It also studied the feasibility of applying theindustrial cluster theory to the port economic and the inevitability of port-relatedindustries’ agglomeration to the port. With the SWOT method, paper analyzed thestrengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threatens in the development of Qingdao portindustry cluster, dissected the composition of industrial clusters in Qingdao port andaccordingly the experience of foreign typical port in the economic development drownsome enlightenments for Qingdao. Using regression model studied the relationshipbetween Qingdao port’s throughput and Qingdao’s GDP, through location quotientmeasured the degree of agglomeration of Qingdao port, and by the gray system software analyzed the contribution of Qingdao port’s pillar industries and thecontribution sort table of pillar industries was gotten. Finally, on the basis of the abovestudies, paper raised the ideas and countermeasures of Qingdao port’s economicdevelopment.
