With the development of the industrial economy, industrial clusters in the theoryof this phenomenon has aroused widespread concern. In practice, industry clustereffect has been widely recognized by researchers and achieved some success as anindustry phenomenon. Industrial clusters plays an important role in promotingindustrial, regional and national economic development. As the basis for the marineindustry, port is the key point of mainland economic as well as marine economy.Furthermore, the port has a variety of functions, not only help promoting thedevelopment of marine economy, but also expanding the combined effect of thecluster, showing huge potential for development.Qingdao Port is the world ’s top ten major port,and it formed the core of the portindustry clusters, showing increasingly powerful burst of vitality. However, how toanalysis the competitiveness of port of Qingdao in qualitative and quantitativeanalysis? What’s the position of Port of Qingdao in overall industrial clusters in thecoastal port clusters? How to seek opportunities for further development? This papertakes Qingdao port as a breakthrough, studying the case of the competitiveness ofChina’s port industry clusters. The purpose of this paper is to rich the port industryeconomic theory as well as the practice for port development.Based on the review and comments on issues related to domestic and foreign portsindustry cluster studies, this paper takes Porter’s diamond model and principalcomponent analysis to analysis the competitiveness of Qingdao Port, and the main conclusions of the study are as followings: first, since1892up date, the Qingdao Porthas been grown from a creek to today’s port cluster, there is a historical necessity,but also pioneers unremitting struggle and pursuit; second, Qingdao Port demandand factor endowments port cluster location, meet the requirements of thedevelopment of corporate strategy, faced with a better opportunity for development,enjoys strong government support, also faces some competitive pressure; third,through the port of Qingdao port industrial cluster competitive empirical results showthat the overall competitiveness of Qingdao Port ranking seventh, with a gap ofsurviving Shanghai etc.; Finally, to further develop the Qingdao port clusterscorresponding countermeasures and suggestions put forward, including thestrengthening of port infrastructure construction, improve the legal system of the port;promote the port industry cluster, cluster enhanced knowledge spillovers; expansionport investment and financing channels, to promote and expedite the listing processQingdao Port port reforms, the development of landlord port model.This paper studies the innovation lies than in the past:(1) Using diamond model, comprehensively studying the Qingdao port cluster,fiding the competitive advantages and disadvantages of Qingdao Port harborindustrial clusters;(2) Using principal component analysis, standing on the perspective of the portindustry cluster competitiveness clusters in empirical analysis, breaking the previousrestrictions on only port competitiveness analysis; at the same time, a number ofports along the coast comprehensive analysis of industrial clusters, and ultimatelyport of Qingdao Port to get competitive industrial cluster score, horizontalcomparison port of Qingdao Port competitiveness clusters.Inadequacies of this article is:(1) There is few literature on the domestic industry cluster level research literature ports less competitive, making reference herein more foreign literature, it isinevitable that China does not meet the conditions;(2) Due to restrictions and availability of statistical data, the paper can not bequantified more comprehensive competitiveness of industrial clusters.
