Agriculture is one of the key problems in economic development, and transforming the traditional agriculture, realizing agricultural modernization is one of the main ways of agricultural economic development. Therefore, in the Background of the country advocating the establishment of new agricultural system, researching the problem of agricultural technology adoption is the new demand of era development. Therefore, based on the summary of domestic and foreign related research findings and the current situation in the level of potato technical in Dingxi city, this paper focuses on the spatial differentiation characteristics and the factors of agricultural technology adoption, reveals the internal behavior mechanism of farmers accepting and adopting new technology, it will bring a new cognition on the development of potato industry in Dingxi City, also will be beneficial to improve the efficiency of agricultural technology diffusion. At the same time, it has important theoretical value to rich rural geography and innovate regional agricultural development. The main research contents and conclusions are as follows:(1) Summary the related literature domestic and abroad found that, after nearly ninety years of development, it has relatively complete theoretical system, which including the agricultural technology diffusion theory, farmers’ behavior change theory, agricultural technology adoption theory system theory. But the domestic research is relatively late, and mainly involve the empirical analysis, which is lack of theoretical innovation. In addition, summary the study at home and abroad for the agricultural technology adoption studies are mainly about factors of demand, but the lack of attention spatial characteristic of agricultural technology adoption behavior.(2) Based on behavioral geography theory and actual investigation, the paper find that agricultural technology adoption is a dynamic process, farmers as the end of this diffusion system, before any link problems, it will lead to the agricultural technology adoption process termination. Meanwhile, by digging farmers deep need, it also found, different regions, different age, different culture degree have the diffenert cognition on the new technology, the demand is not the same.(3) Based on the space and time theory about the agricultural technology adoption behavior, with the adoption of speed and breadth indicators, using GIS spatial analysis method, to research the technology adoption behavior of farmers in the path and strength. Results show that the techniques of potato in Dingxi city space spread direction can be summarized as point adoption stage—line adoption stage—the massive adoption embryonic stage—the local surface shape adoption stage—wide area embryonic adoption stage. For the agricultural technology adoption strength, results show that Anding region, Lintao county and Weiyuan county is a hot area of technology adoption, Zhangxian and Minxian is the technology used in cold region.(4) Through constructing indicator system, using Logistic regression model and ISM model to explain the factors of the agricultural technology adoption. Results show that: First, farmers’behaviors of adopting new potato planting technology is affected by five major characteristic variables, such as farmers themselves, cognitive behavior, production and operation, resource, and environmental characteristics. These variables influence farmers’behavior in different degrees. Second, the analysis result obtained by logistic regression model shows that farmers’level of education, family structure, the degree of specialization, the extent of organization, the cognitive of Science and Technology Park, the cognitive of new technology, agricultural income, climatic productivity and the terrain of growing areas, the level of road and location are significant factors influencing farmers’adopting behavior. Third, ISM model shows there are various factors influencing farmers’adoption behavior, and these factors are in different level, which are interrelated and independent. Among these factors, the degree of specialization, agricultural income, climatic productivity, location, terrain, the level of road are the direct factors. The cognitive of Science and Technology Park, the cognitive of new technology are the indirect factors. And the education of farmers, family structure and the extent of the organization are the deep factors.
