Agricultural modernization is the support of the coordinated development of the "four modernizations", the development of agricultural modernization depends on the improvement of agricultural mechanization. In recent years, however, the total power of agricultural machinery in our country is growing rapidly, but farming comprehensive mechanization level is only52%, while the developed countries in the world have reached more than90%. At the same time, due to various reasons, a large number of rural labor transfer, especially in young adults. Short of labor force induce farmers to buy agricultural machinery operation service. But due to the land fragmentation which will impact the transaction cost, may inhibit the demand of the farmers to buy agricultural machinery operation service.According to the transaction cost theory, the paper analyzed the impact of land fragmentation to the willingness and behavior of farmers to buy agricultural machinery operation services which under the background of the labor transfer. At first, focused on the purpose of this study, designing questionnaire, adopting the way of household surveys on spot investigation in several important grain production areas in China to obtain first-hand information; Then, based on survey data, using descriptive statistical analysis, analyzed the imformation of the agricultural mechanization, the land fragmentation, and the willing of farmers to buy agricultural machinery operation services in the sample area, and put the relevant conclusions; Finally, based on the econometric establishing the Probit model, and adopting Statall.0, to estimate the parameter of the influence factor of the willingness and behavior of farmers to buy agricultural machinery operation service, reveals impact of the various factors to the willingness and behavior of farmers to buy agricultural machinery operation services. The results of this paper show that, under the background of the rural labor transfer, the land fragmentation has a significant negative impact on the willingness and behavior of farmers to buy agricultural machinery operation services. Otherwise, the willingness and behavior of farmers to buy agricultural machinery operation services will be affected by the number of agricultural locomotive driving road, distance from the market, concentrated planting, participate in the economic cooperation organization. And, the influence of farmer’s concentrated cultivation is the largest. The study found that:the probability of concentrated planting farmers to buy agricultural machinery operation services is larger than diversity farmers; the more number of agricultural locomotive driving road, the more probability of farmers to buy agricultural machinery operation service; the farther away from the market, the number of the farmers to buy agricultural machinery operation service are fewer; the farmers live in mountain have fewer willingness to buy agricultural machinery operation services than others who located in the hills and plains.According to the research conclusion, the paper put forward the following suggestions:(1) Through various, multi-dimensional and multi-level market policies and regulations to guide and coordinate land circulation, to reduce land finely degree, to reduce the impact on farmers to buy agricultural machinery operation service.(2) The government should provide convenience for agricultural production to obtain the market information; To increase rural infrastructure investment, especially the plot number of agricultural locomotive driving road; Farmers implement concentrated operation, in order to reduce the cost of agricultural machinery operation, reduce the transaction costs, farmers to buy agricultural machinery operation services to realize the mechanization of agricultural production. Spontaneous, autonomous formation, and (3) To encourage farmers to participate in the organization for economic cooperation, in order to promote the centralized management and access to the support of technology, capital, law, information, to enhance the risk resistance ability, At the same time, reduce the cost of agricultural machinery operation, improve the probability of the use of agricultural machinery operation, increase the motivation of purchase of agricultural machinery operation service, improve the efficiency of agricultural production, economies of scale.
