Gansu Branch Of PICC’s Serious Illness Insurance Business Competitiveness Research

With the local economic development and population aging in Gansu Province in recent years, people’s living standards promotes while the demand for medical services is also growing. Under the former social security system, huge medical expenses will still cause some problems for low-income residents due to illness. To address this problem, since2012the central ministries carry out continuous introduction of serious illness insurance for urban and rural residents working papers, and the Gansu provincial government also introduced the relevant documents of the urban and rural residents’ serious illness insurance work on the agenda. On the one hand, urban and rural residents’ serious illness insurance gathers the power of the government, commercial insurance agencies and medical institutions to share health risks of urban and rural residents’. On the other hand, the development of urban and rural residents’ serious illness insurance and critical illness insurance pricing technology, also bring a good opportunity to critical illness insurance business in Gansu Province.In this paper, we take PICC branch in Gansu Province which is one of the pioneers that providing critical illness insurance as an example, introduce its business of urban and rural residents’ serious illness insurance and critical illness insurance, then analyze its business’ strength and weakness and opportunities and threats in the environment, and finally give some advices. Hope it’s useful for the Gansu branch of PICC to promote competitiveness.This study includes five parts. The first part introduces the background and significance, and research ideas and methods. The second part introduces the theory of competitiveness of the insurance companies. The third part introduces the business and competitiveness of urban and rural residents’ serious illness insurance and critical illness insurance of Gansu Branch of PICC. The fourth part analyzes its business’ strength and weakness and opportunities and threats in the environment. The fifth part gives some suggestions.
