The Performance And The Degree Of Social Responsibility Of SRI Fund In China

The International SRI develops with the growth and emergency of economic, social, environmental and other social responsibility issues, and there is no exception with China’s SRI. At this stage, SRI funds have been the effective implementation of social responsibility, and been developed in large-scale, have become an important investment tool in the financial market. In China, the build of nine SRI fund, including Xingye SRI fund, has got SRI a lot of attention and recognition in our country.This paper takes China’s first SRI fund-Xingye SRI fund as a study case, elaborates the concept and investment strategy of SRI funds, and makes a comparison with the traditional fund. On the basis of above study, this paper makes an empirical research on the problem of whether Xingye SRI fund get good economic efficiency and good social responsibility investment at the same time. First, with the comparison with its own historical performance, its performance benchmark, the performance of the selected traditional funds and other SRI funds, this paper funds that the performance of Xingye SRI fund is better than the fund market, and doesn’t get significant adverse effects by the restrictions in investment conditions. Secondly, this paper analysis the degree of social responsibility that be taken into account by Xingye SRI fund from three aspects-the rating score of listed corporates, the coincidence degree with four social responsibility index and the correlation-depth with four social responsible index in performance. Thus founds and sums up four problems faced by SRI funds at this stage, and points that the problems are the imperfect of screening criteria,the lack of investment effectiveness assessment standards,the weakness in social and environmental disclosure and the lower degree of SRI in practice.
