Uracil derivatives which have important biological activities are widely used in medicine, agricultural, forestry and environmental protection, were reported early in the 1960s as herbicide. In the last decade, as their peculiar weeding mechanism has been found, it was made to become one of the most popular research areas today. New uracil derivatives are developed and applied consistently. This paper summarizes the research and development status of uracil herbicide and the development trend in the future, and reviews the process of such herbicides from development to application. The detailed structure optimization characteristics and structure-activity relationships of uracil derivatives are introduced in this paper. It also simply introduces Uracil compounds in other applications, and some typical compound’s structural characteristics, synthesis method and biological activity. We have combined with uracil derivatives and the propargyl group, allyl group and sulfonyl group which have different action mechanism. Totally 30 compounds have been synthesised by the methods which have been mentioned above. Their structures were confirmed by IR,1H NMR and LC/MS. These compounds have been divided into three-series according to their structures as following: (1) N-Uracil substituted phenyl propynyloxy (allyloxy) amide I:(2) N-Vracil substituted phenyl sulfonamide II:(3) 2-((6-disubstituted-3-methyl-2,4-dioxo-3,4-dihydropyrimidin-1(2H)-yl)methyl) benzonitrile III: At the dose of 75 g/hm2 of the effective component, tested for the herbicidal activity of CompoundsⅠ,Ⅱ. The results have showed that these compounds have different herbicidal activity by pre-emergence treatments and post-emergence treatments. The herbicidal activity on dicotyledon weeds are much better than on monocotyledon weeds. Some of these compounds exhibited 100%inhibition to the dicotyledon weeds at 75 g/hm2, such as Abutilon theophrasti and Amaranthus spinosus by post-emergence treatments. The test of herbicidal activity of compounds III are being tested.
