The high-speed turbodrill, as a downhole oil and gas drilling tool, has a significant advantage, such as improving drilling speed, reducing drilling accidents, saving drilling costs, increasing economic efficiency, and so on. Recently, the high-speed turbodrill has been applied widely and played a very important role in the field of domestic oil and gas exploration and development. Especially The high-speed has an irreplaceable advantage in drilling deep and ultra-deep well and complex formation. However, high-speed turbodrill has also some shortcomings, such as, high speed, small torque, short bearing life of support section, and so on. But turbodrilling with diamond impregrated bit take full advantage of its feature to resolve a lot of drilling problems. The short bearings life of supporting section is a serious impact on its application and drilling advantage.In order to carry out explorating bearings failure of the supporting section in high speed turbodrill, the peper summed up the bearing wear mechanism and factors of bearing wear damage. It completed studies of bearing failure mechanism of the support section and completed four main jobs.(1)analyzed the structure of support section, and explorted work conditions performance and load of support section. And indentified the support section structure of high-speed turbodrill tool.(2) Analyzed the characteristics of various types of thrust bearings used in high-speed turbodrill. Summed and analyzed feature of the bearing materials, such as, bearing steel, polycrystalline diamond(PCD), engineering ceramic, carbide and composite materials, and so on. The PCD and ceramic,as friction pads, make thrust sliding bearing that has an excellent feature to meet high requirements of the high-speed turbodrill.(3)Analysis the bearing failure mechanisms and influencing factors of the support section.got the calculation of bearing wear and life of thrust sliding bearing. And verified working parameters effect on friction surface temperature by computer simulation.(4)Analysis the structure of the dynamic thrust bearing used in the bearing section, and studied hydrodynamic oil film formation mechanism and carrying capacity of the hydrodynamic thrust sliding bearing. And finally got a calculation equation of the sector friction pads hydrodynamic thrust bearing oil film bearing capacity.This study determine the appropriate type of thrust bearing used in high-speed turbodrill and bearing performance characteristics, and got bearing failure mode and effect of parameters, and hope that it can provide a reference for future study and field using the high-speed turbodrill.
