As increasingly aware of environmental protection, people show more and more attention about the recycling of textile waste. The first mission of recycling blended fabric is to separate different types of fibers. In this paper, the enzymatic hydrolysis method of cotton fibers has been studied in detail, then the results were applied to polyester-cotton blended fabric component separation, and relative research has not been found. The impact of the pretreatment on the cotton fiber morphology and the hydrolysis process were researched. Orthogonal experiments were used to study the hydrolysis reaction of the significant factors. The influences of hydrolysis reaction were researched, such as hydrolysis time, enzyme dosage, solid - liquid ratio, etc. Performance of residual yarn after the hydrolysis separation was characterized. The results showed that the suitable enzymatic hydrolysis process parameters of cotton fibers: immersing cotton in 2% NaOH liquid for 72h, adding enzyme batches, enzyme dosage 1:2, hydrolysis time 48h and the hydrolysis rate of 87.9%. This method is used for the recycling of scrap cotton fabric and also used to separate waste blended fabrics. It can effectively separate the polyester-cotton blended fabric use this method, the suitable process conditions: immersing yarn in 2% NaOH liquid for 72h, solid -to- liquid ratio 10g yarn/ 500ml reaction mixture, adding enzyme batches, enzyme dosage 3g and hydrolysis time 36h. The properties of the polyester fibers after hydrolysis separation did not change significantly, and the residue is reducing sugar and cotton fiber fragments, both of which can be reused.
