For mining activities, mine ventilation is as important as breathing for human beings. Throughout the history, there are lots of literature and works related to Mine Ventilation System (MVS). Over the years, by the efforts of many experts and scholars, MVS, an ancient discipline, has achieved plenty of substantial and valuable results, among which, the optimization and improvement of MVS is the top priority. With the changing of underground mining activities, how to determine an MVS matched with the production is particularly necessary.This paper is based on the subject of "Optimization and design for Langdu Copper Mine mechanical ventilation system of Shangri-La County Huaxi Mining Co. Ltd", which aims to make an plan practical on technology, reliable on safety and reasonable on economy against the problems of Langdu Copper Mine ventilation system. Through actual investigations, we knew the production status and plan of the mine. According to the attributes of the MVS, we made further researches as following by referring to the existing research achievements.1. Learn national laws, regulations, safety regulations and other rules or regulations related to the optimization and improvement of MVS, in order to provide the basis for the set of ventilation parameters. Read related literature and works of MVS in detail to master the airflow pattern of the mine. Collect the experts’ and scholars’ theoretical and experimental researches of MVS at present and the past to gain the basic data necessary for the optimization and improvement of MVS. The study shows that the optimization of MVS is divided into internal and external optimization. The improvement of MVS belongs to the internal optimization, and the research of internal optimization includes the graph theory, mathematics, system engineering discipline, etc., which are studied more thoroughly and show obviously practical significance.2. Through the study of mine ventilation network, we once again discussed the classification and three-law of the airflow of and inside the ventilation network, and also discussed the structure of ventilation network, the change of ventilation resistance and airflow, the latter of which is caused by the change of the multiple main fans and single fan air exhaust. Through the review of the classical loop method used to solve the ventilation network, in order to make all of them become the important means and methods of solving ventilation network.3. After the further status investigation, analysis and evaluation of Langdu Copper Mine ventilation system, we think that there exits a serious problem of the circulation of polluted air. Extension from3964m adit to3840m blind inclined shaft, and the level stopes they belong to, have serious problems of ventilation. If not improved, it will severely restrict further production and can even suspend production for rectification because of the unsolved ventilation problem.4. The internal optimization of mine ventilation includes the optimization of the main fan, ventilation network and ventilation structures, which is quite complicated with huge workload. Langdu Copper Mine has three main fans in excellent performance and this paper focuses on the optimization and improvement of its ventilation network. Target at the MVS and maximum solve the ventilation problem of Langdu Copper mine.5. According to the mining status and production plan of Langdu Copper Mine, we present the ventilation system of air intake from the center and return from two wings for ore body Ⅲ from3920m level to3760m level and side wing diagonal ventilation system for ore body Ⅳ from3920m level to3800m level. Use the vnt2.0program of mine ventilation analysis software to solve the ventilation network of north and south stopes and to make the adjusting optimal, which can reduce the power consumption of production and produce a better economic efficiency for the whole mine ventilation system.6. As the chamber stope is narrow and the air is not easy to flow inside, this paper takes the the chamber stope of north mining area3380m level as researching subjects and uses the CFD software FLUENT as the simulation tool. The simulation graphically demonstrates the characteristics and regulation of airflow parameter and determines the hazardous area of dust ventilation of the chamber stope. We propose to install JK58-1No3local fan for dust ventilation and provide the theoretical basis for the optimization and design of the MVS of Langdu Copper Mine.
