Casting is the foundation of mechanical industry, however a large amount of wastefoundry sands are generated in the casting process. High-quality and low-cost method ofthe waste foundry sands has been the foundry workers’ goal. Comparing to other severalcommon reclamation methods of the waste foundry sand, the wet reclamation method ishighly suitable for reclaiming the water-soluble used sand, such as sodium silicate usedsand, clay used sand, alkaline phenolic resin used sand, etc. The wet reclaimed sand ofthe water-soluble used sand can be used as an alternative to the surface sand or singlesand. Unfortunately, there are some problems involved in the actual application of thecommon wet reclamation systems such as the large structure, high water and energyconsumption. To overcome those problems, a new type of the intermittent wetreclamation system has been developed, which possesses many advantages such as briefstructure, high productivity, automation degree and easy regulation. The thesis contentsare as follows:According to the working principle of the wet reclamation method of the used sandand characteristics of the corresponding equipment, the overall framework of theintermittent wet reclamation system with5t/h productivity for used foundry sand wasput forward and the system components were designed or selected, which is on the basisof the intermittent wet reclamation system invented by our research group recently. Theintermittent wet reclamation system reported here includes scrubbing reclamationmachine for sand-water mixing, cleaning reclamation machine and sand-water separator,etc. The components needed to be controlled in the intermittent wet reclamation systemwere determined so that the system can achieve a single500kg foundry used sand wetreclamation.In the hardware design of the control system, the hardware overall system of thecontrol system was proposed, afterwards the selection of the hardware modules and the design of peripheral expansion circuit were accomplished. The human-computerinteraction and parameter settings of reclamation process was achieved using thekeyboard display system. The circuit design of the control system was accomplished,while AT89C52chip was used as the core of the control system.In the software design of the control system, according to the requirement of thecontrol system, the functions of the software was divided. Furthermore, the main controlprocess associated with embedded operating system was developed with the help ofKeil C51software platform. Finally, according to the control process and the designspecification of the software, the software of the control system was developed using Clanguage.Finally, the simulation debugging of the control system was achieved by usingProteus software. The results show that the intermittent wet reclamation control systemfor used foundry sand can achieve the desired results with certain reliability and highefficiency reclamation.
