With the development of economic society, cars have become necessities of People’s Daily life gradually. Rapidly increasing car ownership, particularly the dramatic expansion of private cars, brought convenience to people’s life, at the same time also brought serious environmental problems- air pollution. Scientific research found that contained in the automobile engine exhaust gas from the burning of H2 O, O2, H2, N2, CO, CO2, SO2, NOx, HC compounds and other particulate matter, the CO, CO2, SO2, NOx, HC compounds, including particulate matter harmful to human body composition and affect the natural environment such as composition of substances called pollutants. Existing data show that a car exhaust emissions by one year is about four times that of vehicle weight.In order to meet people’s growing demand for good quality of living environment, reduce air pollution and improve the atmospheric environment, Many countries spend a lot of manpower and financial resources to support research in the field of automobile exhaust, and introduced a series of improvement measures and new emissions standards. The spark ignition engine automobile exhaust pollutant emission limits and measurement methods have been implemented for many years, Environmental protection since January 1, 2013 also requires that all the production, import, sales, and registration of the spark ignition engine fuel gas and the car to perform five emission standards….. A series of actions for vehicle emissions higher requirements are put forward. Automobile exhaust analyzer technology in China and abroad in reality there is significant difference, relative theoretical basis imperfect system, high requirements for environmental conditions and low level of automation, sensors, such as the core technology lack of independent intellectual property rights, etc.Based on the sufficient research on the basis of the current domestic research in this field, Combined with the current popular embedded development technology, integration of existing exhaust gas detection technology and microcontroller information processing technology, On the embedded development platform to try a sensor as the core, with lambert beer’s law for the principle of the embedded vehicle exhaust testing equipment. The equipment running on Linux operating system based on ARM processor, Containing tail gas data acquisition, signal processing, the microprocessor control, function as well as the underlying driver module; It can detect the car tail gas composition of CO, CO2, HC compound, at the same time using electrochemical sensor to detect the content of O2, NO. Along with temperature sensor, when testing the detection engine temperature at the same time. Using microprocessor control mode, directly will be showed on the LCD screen, intelligent and convenient. Data storage function, at the same time, save the test data, and on the basis of evaluation of automobile engine health related data. Through the simulation test, the equipment in real-time and stability of the desired effect. In this paper the design of the test principle, hardware and software design process, equipment working process is introduced in detail.
