With the development of textile industry, due to the requirement of textile machinery, it is urgent to improve carding machine combed cotton’s quality and efficiency. As a main component of carding machine, taking the carding of the fiber layer, the deformation of cylinder should be strictly controlled. In the research about cylinder, deformation caused by high temperature accounts for a large proportion. So the study of cylinder thermal deformation is of great significance. This paper takes the new product development project of cylinder type FB1235 carding machine institutions in Qingdao textile machinery co.,LTD. as the research object. The institutions’ heat source and heat transformation have been analyzed. Through simulation and experimental methods, bearing heating effect on the cylinder deformation has been studied. The relationship between cylinder speed and deformation has been obtained at the same time. Heat-structure optimization design of cylinder has been fulfilled by finite element method. Main procedures are listed below:1.Cylinder 3D parametric model is set up on Pro/E software by analysis of the structural characteristics of FB1235 type carding cylinder, simplifying details, ignoring minor conditions.2.Introduces on the basic theory of thermodynamics, heat transfer analysis of three basic forms, and causes of thermal deformation finite element theory and outlines of the temperature field and coupling field. Establishing cylinder heat flow model to explain the process heat, heat transfer and heat loss, heat briefly-analytical procedure and method for solving the structure of coupling.3.Cylinder’s temperature field distribution contour is got by steady-state thermal analysis on the cylinder. Through field test to modify analysis method, the analysis result is consistent with the field data. Using the modified data for cylinder heat-structure coupling analysis gets the thermal deformation contour of cylinder. Analysis results show that the maximum cylinder deformation occurred on the edge of the cylinder tube in vitro.4.0n the basis of heat-structure coupling analysis for cylinder optimization design, the result of optimization design reduces the maximum deformation of cylinder, providing a new train of thought of the cylinder’s structure design.5.It lays the foundation to improve the cylinder’s rotate speed and efficiency of carding machine by summing up the speed of the cylinder-the maximum deformation curves and mathematical expressions.
