Applied Research On The Home Textile Products Design Of The Hua-Yao Cross Stich Pattern Art In Southwest Hunan

Regarding of its gorgeous color-arrangement and exquisite workmanship, the “Hua-Yao” cross stich pattern art has been selected as the nation-rated non-material cultural legacy at2006 as the first approved group. Eventually, the “Hua-Yao”cross stich pattern art is truly an national treasure of Chinese traditional culture. However, with the rapid growing of modern industrialization, this precious artificial handicraft has been gradually fading in current commercial society. Thus, it has become an urgent problem that how to transit and inherit or even upgrade the “Hua-Yao” cross stich pattern art under the threat of fast-fabricated machine-made products nowadays.In this paper, four main kinds of analyze have been performed on this study, which includes literature reviewing method,field survey method, observation method, comparison method,and questionnaire survey. Base on the literatures review, this paper formed a preliminary understanding of the “Hua-Yao”cross stich pattern art. In order to deepen the understanding,this paper collected a large amount of first-hand valuable data based on the field survey. And thanks to the questionnaire survey study, this paper also analyzed the opinions and advices of consumer on the national home textile products. With the above works, this paper extracted the essence of the “Hua-Yao”cross stich pattern art, and achieved some potential design of home textile products under the requirements of modern customs demands.There are two research divisions in this paper. On one hand,this paper refined and summarized up the characteristics,typical element and aesthetic tendency of the “Hua-Yao” cross stich pattern art in a comprehensive and systematic way. On theother side, on the basis of the former work, this paper integrated the art of “Hua-Yao” and modern home textile products design by extraction, redesigning, elemental deformation and refactoring the essence of the “Hua-Yao”cross stich pattern art.Using the environment of sitting room and dining-room, this paper demonstrated a series home textile products with rich and ethnic flavor of nationality. In these cases, this paper tried to help the “Hua-Yao” cross stich pattern art upgrade in our modern society and brought the home textile products with pristine natural spirits.As nature is the spiritual totem in the “Hua-Yao” cross stich pattern art, this paper presented the argument of“bringing your thoughts back to nature” for modern home textile products design, which also corresponded to the profound cultural connotation and unique aesthetic characteristics of “Hua-Yao” traditions. Using the element of the “Hua-Yao”cross stich pattern in the modern home textile products design will not only increase the potential commercial profits, but also prompt the inheriting and development of cultural “Hua-Yao” cross stich pattern art.
