With the rapid development of electronic information technology, electromagnetic produces a series of problems while bringing big convenience to our life, especially the biological effect of electromagnetic radiation produced serious threat to human health. Therefore, development high performance of electromagnetic shielding fabric still is an important aspect in the development of functional textiles.This paper combined the knowledge of textile and prophylactic medicine to evaluate the electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of the fabric. Analyzed the physical condition of laboratory rats under different experimental conditions, researched the main factors affecting electromagnetic shielding fabric performance, which provided guidance for the application of electromagnetic shielding fabric, at the same time, offered new ideas and methods to the evaluation of such products.First, studied the preparation methods of chemical nickel plating on electromagnetic shielding fabric. By choosing nickel sulfate and sodium hypophosphite as the main raw material of the chemical nickel- plating process to make electromagnetic shielding fabric. Researched and analyzed the factors which influence the effect of chemical nickel-plating and fabric properties, established chemical nickel-plating formulations and process conditions: nickel sulfate 20-30 g / L, hypophosphite 30-35 g / L, sodium citrate 30-35 g / L, ammonium chloride 10-15 g / L, temperature, 50-60 ℃, p H: 9.Then, the pre-treatment process has been studied, analyzed the shortage of traditional activation methods on the basis of the existing theories and experimental results, and proposed a new pre-treatment method which set Ni as the catalytic center without palladium: First, complexing the nickel salt on the fabric surface by the complexation of citric acid to nickel salt, then Ni2+ was deoxidized to metallic nickel by the strong reducibility of potassium borohydride, which formed a nickel activation center on the fabric surface. It was proved that no palladium activation method can trigger a subsequent chemical reaction of nickel-plating on the fabric surface successfully, in addition, due to the activating fluid was consistent with the main salt of the chemical plating solution, it would not pollute the subsequent plating bath, as well as low cost, simple, easy to implement.Finally, on the basis of the above chemical nickel-plating process, a series of electromagnetic shielding fabrics were made by using different fabrics. The fabrics were used for biological protection and the biological effects of different protective fabrics were researched by comparative experiments. Experiments showed that the electromagnetic radiation may damage the organisms of various systems, including hematopoietic, immune, reproduction, etc., and even caused death if serious. After the same dose of electromagnetic radiation, the laboratory rats under the protection of electromagnetic shielding fabric were better than no protection group, which indicated that the electromagnetic shielding fabrics could reduce radiation hazards, and the larger the SE value, the better the protection effect. At the same time, in the case of other equal conditions, the protective effect of fabric with stainless steel fiber is better than that of chemical nickel plating fabric, this is mainly because the surface coating reduces the permeability of the fabric.
