Spherical tanks have more advantages than other vessels such as less floor area covering, high-pressure capability, installation and transport facilitates. So, Spherical tanks are widely used in petrochemical industry. As the technology continues to improve, Spherical tank tends to a large-scale development, but the Spherical tank above 10000m3 is entirely dependent on imports. In order to achieve complete localization of large Spherical tank, the paper designs and evaluates the safety for 15000m3 butane tank. First compare the mechanical properties, chemical composition and physical properties between WEL-TEN610 CF and 07 MnMoVR, determine 07 MnMoVR as main material in this tank design.Using ANSYS to analyze different pillar structure and size under operating conditions and select the optimal results. Using ANSYS to analyze the stress of spherical tank under normal operating conditions, the hydraulic test conditions, earthquake conditions, wind-load conditions and assesses the stress according to JB4732.This paper uses time-history analysis for studying the change of displacement and disscuss the influence of earthquake. Finally, the simulation result of wind-load based on Fluent for Spherical tank is used to analyze the stress under wind-load conditions and use the stress analysis results to assess.
