By now, the in order to produce C5 petroleum resin, catalytic polymerization process of Friedel-Crafts catalyzer( like A1C13 and BF3) is used. 50 units in China produce petroleum resins, which yields almost 250 kt/a-350 kt/a. The products include hydrogen resin, C5 / C9 polymerized resin, C9 resin, C5 resin, etc.Because C5 is a very useful resource and energy, it is an important task of how to enhance the comprehensive development of the C5 resources and make the refined chemical products.This paper introduces the production situations of the C5 petroleum resin in home and abroad, and analyzes the requirement of China’s C5 petroleum resin, which includes the analysis of the C5 petroleum resin requirement of each district, the influencing factors to its price, an analysis of the price of C5 petroleum resin and a prediction to its future price and trend. An important way to obtain C5 petroleum resin is to catalyze, reform, and split ethylene. This paper makes a detailed analysis to the situation of the industrial raw materials, including at home and at abroad, the price trend, and makes a prediction to the future price and the supply situation.By combining the import and export situation of the petroleum resin products in recent years, the policies and laws of petroleum resin industry and the production situation recently, an analysis of the developmental trend of the C5 petroleum resin is made. The requirement of the petroleum resin is getting more and more, especially the need of high purified C5 petroleum resin. The market is very promising.
